Table was booked for 2:30. We were seated at 2:15 but didn't receive our starters until 3:30. We had booked a taxi for 4:15 as we were told that we only had the table for an hour and a half, but by 3:45pm we hadn't even received our mains. I went to ask where the food was and the manager said that it was being plated now. By 4:00pm we still hadn't received food and had to ask for it again, at which point it had been sitting for 15 mins in the kitchen, as the gravy had a thick skin on it, the food quality was dry and terrible. We had to leave before the desserts arrived. I had informed management that we wanted to take the desserts away with us but they hadn't boxed them up, so I was told we would get free drinks and a 25% discount. But I still paid £113 for terrible service and terrible quality food on Christmas day. Add this money to the £50 reservation fee and we actually had no discount. In total the bill came to £163 when the price was supposed to be £85 per person with a free glass of fizz. No prosecco was provided at all during this awful experience. I will be asking for all of my money back.

Food was bland, veg was not fully cooked. Was not great. Great pub and staff and very convenient but need a better menu and quality food.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our lunch at the Boar’s Head. Great food, atmosphere and the staff were lovely. We will definitely go back again.

An excellent Sunday roast. Sharon had the beef and I had the chicken. Everything cooked to perfection and plenty of trimmings.

The lunch deal came at a good price bur the food element was disappointing. The fish in the fish and chips was mainly batter, with very little fish. One of our party who was not using the deal was charged £2 for a soda water, which compares very badly with other pubs. The service can best be described as indifferent. We waited a long time on arrival before anyone spoke to us, even though there was one person not dealing with other customers behind the bar. When we told the staff about the missing fish aftee the meal, our concerns were dismissed out of hand. We are unlikely to be returning any time soon, which is a shame as it is a place we have often used as a lunch stop on walks in the area.

Booked here for Sunday lunch. This is a nice traditional type of pub. We were sat at a table which was just big enough for the four of us. Food was ordered at the bar and then served to you at the table. Food was plentiful and good. Service was friendly. Would I go again - yes if I was nearby but wouldn’t make a special journey to go.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience. I pass this pub frequently & have often thought of trying it, so last Saturday my friends & I decided that the Boar is where we would dine & watch the football. We weren't disappointed on any level; the the ambiance, the beer, the food or the football. All excellent! The landlord, Simon, even joined us to give us the benefit of his expert critical summary of England's performance The Boar's Head will be our venue of choice for the final of the Euros (what do you mean if?...............of course we'll make it)
