I have to say, I didn’t have high hopes for Boeuf & Frites as it’s known to only be ok but it was even worse! The premises is such a huge space and is similar to an American diner with the sheer amount of seats and how open it is. They could definitely do with breaking it up with some partitions. The lighting is also very very bright. We got to our table and before we even took our coats off and got our toddler into his high chair, there was a man standing behind us waiting to put garlic bread on our table. I didn’t even realise it was for us initially. He put it on the table and walked away. We ate it. It was nice. As we were eating that, the waitress took our order for our mains. There’s 2 choices; steak or chicken. My husband and I both got the steak. It arrived within minutes and it was a big plate of salt, essentially. It was the saltiest meal we’ve ever had. The chips were skinny fries and they were the type that have an orange seasoning coating them. There was a knob of butter on the steak that also must have been laced with salt as when it melted over it, the whole thing was one big salty slab of meat. Our 2 year old had chicken tenders and chips and he kept shouting for water. If I had known the chips came out like that I would have asked for his to have no seasoning. Ours too, to be honest, but especially the baby’s. We weren’t finished 30 seconds and a waitress asked if she could bring dessert out. It came out a minute later. It was Profiteroles and they were nice. The nicest part of the meal. Our table was booked for 4:30pm and we were totally finished our 3 courses at 5:05pm. It came to just over €90. There is an outrageous amount of wait staff and they are all very attentive but it’s all a bit too fast. I know the point of the restaurant is that you have 2 choices; steak or chicken, and that’s fine if they excelled at both but they really don’t. It was mediocre at best.
