   The service and management was sterling. Our table wasn’t ready for 30 minutes after our reservation time, and we were comped 4 glasses of champagne, graciously and apologetically. Our server was fantastic, attentive, informed, friendly and just present enough. The menu is compelling, and the food was good, not on a par with pricing and of variable quality, some excellent (cheese appetizers, leeks, and chicken), some good (steak, chicken and desserts…chocolate mousse and pan perdu). The food came quickly but there were foibles. Asking to sit a couple at our very large table (plenty of space to do it comfortably) in exchange for (again graciously comped) desserts. Our second drinks were very delayed and again immediately offered on the house. The team working there is aligned, smooth and makes you feel warmly hosted, authentically. It was Friday night and the ambience was significantly disrupted by extremely loud music all night (a new effort to draw in a Friday night cohort of loud music lovers? And that was problematic in all of the ways. The setting by the bay is gorgeous, and the interior was crowded but bustling in a compelling way. Bathroom is a short walk and slightly inconvenient. With all of this making for a somewhat chaotic evening we left feeling professionally and generously taken care of in spite of (and in response to) the missteps, corrected with generous apologies and comped drinks and dessert. To a person everyone working from management to server was engaged and thoughtful about every moment of being in their restaurant. Mixed experience as described but we enjoyed ourselves.

   Charming in every way: the setting, the staff and the food. The hostess, Roma, went out of her way to move us inside even though we had an outdoor reservation and they were very busy. Courtney our server was attentive, knowledgable and accommodating. In fact each person who helped us was the definition of good hospitality. The menu is thoughtful and the French dishes made for a cozy Friday lunch in SF.

   On first entering the restaurant, I felt it was deceptively small! And it is. But it has a nice ambiance. It could use a little french cafe music or something to add to the ambiance though. The bar looks fantastic and dominates the room, making me think it is really encouraging folks to eat there instead of at the few tables on the perimeter. Nice touch but not conducive to our party of friends who wanted to talk! We were a party of 4. Two of our party had the Croque Madam and loved it. Another had the steak frites and raved about it. I had the poached tuna sandwich, which was bland and just not very tasty. We also had the deviled eggs - delicious and an order of fries - terrific. And we had a a carafe of the house wine, which was wonderful. Our server was terrific - informed, attentive, and pleasant. The food was plentiful. And it was a very nice lunch - I just wish I had ordered differently!

   Encouraged by the many 5-star reviews, we made a dinner reservation for 4 with our out-of-town guests. As reported by previous reviewers, the seating inside is "cozy" and the noise level is "energetic" and the restrooms are outside the restaurant. We were seated at a very small booth in a corner, so there wasn't a view. Our server (sorry, didn't catch his name) was pleasant and efficient. We had cocktails/wine (all fine) and 3 appetizers (deviled eggs, leeks, and croque monsieur). The eggs were our favorite. We each had a different entree from the limited menu - chicken was the best; the burger was good, but medium rare, rather than the medium requested; the steak was pretty good; and the sole had a very tasty sauce, and a small bed of spinach. The fries with the burger and the steak were very good. The bill came to almost $600 with tip, so if you are watching your budget, this isn't the place for you. It was an OK experience, but not one that we are likely to repeat.

   Food was ok … will give it another try. Chicken was dry and very salty - strange twist on escargot flavoring - tasty leek dish.
