   This is a terrific restaurant, on the pricier side, but with a very tasty and a creative menu. Everything is cooked over wood or in a charcoal oven which you can see walking into the dining room. So many of the dishes are on the smokey side, perhaps not to everyone's liking. But the bread was tasty, the filet mignon was to perfection, as were the asparagus and Caesar salad, and the house Bordeaux was very nice. Beyond that, the waiter and all the staff are attentive and friendly. So overall a welcome addition to the neighborhood.

   Bouboulina has a really well thought out, dark, intimate atmosphere. The service is top notch, the cocktails excellent, and the food outstanding. The steaks are wood fired, so expect a little smokey char flavor.

   We felt like the waiter was rushing us. Changing our plates and taking away our drinks when we weren’t done. It would’ve been nice if he asked us first beforehand. Also, it was for a friend’s birthday. When I reserved the restaurant, I made sure I selected for a birthday. The host even acknowledge it was a birthday so I assumed the waiter would know too, but he didn’t. Overall, food was good, but service wasn’t that great.

   Beautiful place, felt intimate and luxurious. The food was a solid “B” across the board. Things were on the right track but didn’t land. An order of bread ($12) to start was tasty but served cold. Unclear why as after all, it’s a made-to-order appetizer, not just courtesy bread service. We ordered the tomahawk (approx. $150) and while it was cooked correctly on the inside, it had no sear at all. Dull grey looking on the outside. Also ordered the wagyu picanha (approx. $45) which was nicely seared and well seasoned. Fat could have been rendered a tiny bit better. The wine sauce for the steak was on point. Plates should have been served warm but were not, so the meat got cold the moment it was placed down. Misses the mark from traditional steakhouses. Service was generally solid—especially at the bar.

   Fabulous addition to dining in N.Bethesda. Two bartenders, Avi and Chris were most welcoming and knowledgeable about wines and cocktails. Our server, Manuel (sp?) was most knowledgeable about the entire menu, including the night’s specials. Was very helpful in describing the size of the appetizers. Table service was excellent. Each course was delivered at exactly the right time. Very impressive experience. We will be back soon and often.

    First time there… the ambiance is beautiful and quite different for MoCo and the staff were all lovely and accommodating. However… the food wasn’t initially brought out in the order we had requested and the waiter had gone over everything before leaving the table, as he should, so that was surprising. And then we all found the food to be “okay,” not great… and very expensive which isn’t a great combo. I will say management comped dessert for the table which was significantly appreciated; but as I mentioned earlier… the staff was great!!
