   The food was fantastic- absolutely delicious. However, we were there for Christmas lunch, prebooked, menu preselected and prepaid several months beforehand. Reservations were every 15 minutes but the staff just could not keep up. We sat for an hour before getting our wine and main course. The staff were lovely but overwhelmed. As to ambience, we were seated in a dull white box room on uncomfortable plastic chairs. I know there are other parts of the Brasserie that are delightfully quirky but this area was very uninspiring.

   When you provide your menu choices a month in advance, and the restaurant does not believe you, was disappointing. After showing 3 people a text message, they finally believed that we had a requested a vegetarian meal. Disappointing that the restaurant couldn’t get it that we wanted gluten free as well, was the final straw! It took 45mins to get a wine menu. Overall, we would not recommend this restaurant nor ever go back. Disappointing that this was Christmas Day also.

   The food was good, but the service wasn't. It felt like the staff were all on their first shift, ever ( in hospitality) or performing a scenes from Fawlty Towers. Constantly having to ask for cutlery and drinks. Staff world reach across the table infront of customers instead of walking around to place the food infront of the person. No one checked if we were ready for the next course, food simply arrived at uneven intervals. We asked for a drinks menu to order a beer, the staff member instead just brought out "a beer". They had selected a brand at random and brought it opened ,with a glass, placed it on the table and walked off before we could say anything.

   The food was delicious and the service attentive. Plenty of options on the drinks menu from cocktails and mocktails to the usual beer, wine and spirits. We had the scallops and Lobster Bisque for entree and a steak and lamb for main. Love sauces and flavours for both dishes. We will be back!

   What a lovely, classic restaurant to have a relaxing Sunday lunch celebrating an older person's birthday. I expect that Julien's Bowral Brasserie will become harder to book as it becomes better known in the area.
