The chickpea fritters were uninteresting and bland. The tuna/caviar tartar was absolutely not fresh enough and at that price and portion, you’d expect the freshest raw fish available in NYC. Me and my boyfriend actually had a stomachache right after… The cocktails were ok, but nothing out of this world. For 2 drinks and 2 appetizers at over $100, we were expecting much much more. The Portrait Bar nearby is beyond outstanding compared to this place.

Not particularly pleasant place for a conversation or casual meeting. Overpriced given the quality of food and drinks.

Not just small plates, but teeny-tiny plates. We ordered shrimp cocktail, scallop, tomato salad, and chickpea fritters. The shrimp were a nice size and well-chilled. The sauce to go with them seemed to be just mayonnaise. The scallop dish was one scallop served on an oversized shell with tiny slices of radish on it; again, nothing special. The tomato salad was nice and bright with some fresh herb flavoring. (I’m guessing tarragon, maybe.) But the salad was just about ten tiny tomatoes cut in half, not much for the cost. The chickpea fritters were square cube and tasted more of the frying than of chickpeas, which were mashed enough that I would not have guessed what they were without the name on the menu. Nice ambience, with multiple seating area choices—couches, small tables, and such. The drinks were good although not particularly special. Glad we went, but won’t go back.

This was a very delightful stop last night! The vibe was great and I loved the decor. The server was friendly and helpful. She recommended an upsell that was great with the tuna caviar tartare. Drinks were well made and tasty. I would definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in the neighborhood for an appetizer and a drink.

I went to Tusk bar as a first date and was walked away highly disappointed. We were seated quickly with our reservation, and within 1 minute were asked what we wanted to order. We asked for a few minutes to even look at the menu, and literally 2 minutes were asked again. Feeling rushed we paused our conversation and didn't even get to finish viewing the menu when the server came back for a third time, and - feeling pressured - randomly picked drinks off the menu. When we looked at our watches only 8 minutes had gone by since we sat down. As we were starting to finish our drinks the waitress came by to ask if we wanted another one. After replying "we're not sure just yet," she said "I guess it's one-and-done" and brought us our check, all within 45 minutes of arriving at the restaurant. For $22 a cocktail I expect to at least have time to enjoy my experience.

The food was very sub-par. I told the waitress, after she asked how everything was, that the shrimp was fishy and not good and she said “Okay”. What? How about an apology and take it off my bill since it was a ridiculous $28? Sorry, never again for me but this is NYC, so not totally surprised.
