Restaurateurs Vittorio Assaf and Fabio Granato opened Brasserie Cognac de Monsieur Ballon in April 2008. The duo brought their love for French culture and cuisine to New York City and gave the Big Apple an authentic slice of such, with a brasserie style menu combining French classics with modern creations.

Not nearly the same restaurant as on the UES. Service was poor, the wine by the glass was warm and undrinkable. My wife’s hamburger was initially raw and then well done when sent back.

The food was decent, though my drink was twice brought with the wrong drink order, service was very sluggish. Salad w sandwich had zero dressing and needed to ask for more. Waited like 15 minutes for a desert menu. The tarte tatin was incredible. Service staff needs more more training, in my opinion. First time here, I'll give them another chance, but if the service sucks next time I won't be back.

Very nice ambience— pretty with great lighting. Our waiter was very gracious and welcoming. We were there on a Sunday night, when it was low key and relaxed. I’m told it’s much livelier on weekdays. Personally, I prefer the mellow Sunday night vibe.

Three times the wrong meal was brought out, it was relatively empty but slow and inattentive service. The manager had no experience recovering from horrific service!

Nice convenient locations. Tomato and goat cheese Tart was very good as was the Miso Cod and Rotisserie Chicken. Nice wine list and the crème burlee was delicious

Service and food were impeccable, as always. The tuna, the nicose salad and cafe au-lait with molten lava cake all were fabulous. We eat here often when we are in the city for work and it’s spot on Everytime!!

Wonderful experience overall! Valentine’s Day specials included chicken cordon bleu- so delicious, from the haricots verts to mashed potatoes to the perfectly cooked chicken. Souffle was also delicious as was the classis onion soup. Service was top notch- friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Great wine recommendation as well. Saved room for the profiteroles for dessert- good choice!

Sunday morning at 10am. The restaurant was barely a third full the service was so slow and terrible. We waited way too long for coffee and mimosas. When we asked for refills, again, way too long. Had to ask three times. Food for four of us came out two plates at a time with a gap of 5 minutes between plates. The one in Columbus Circle was a favorite. This restaurant needs a lot of training in service and timing. Food was good but after the lack of attentive service Od never go back.
