We really wanted to love this place more than we did. And I think it's important up front to praise the wonderful, attentive service we had. The speaker above our table was playing music a little too loudly to enjoy conversation. And the four of us all were somewhat (or a lot) disappointed in our food. Three of the four of us ordered Caesar salad and we all agreed it had far too much dressing and cheese, and that the over-spiced croutons were overwhelmingly strong and didn't complement the salad at all. Only one out of four us gave a thumbs up to our entrees - the Coq au vin, ordered by two of my fellow diners, was described as bland. The chicken paillard was so overspiced and felt more like I was eating some hot Mexican dinner than a subtly flavored piece of nicely spiced chicken. It could be that if we'd ordered different items from the menu we all would have left more satisfied than we did, but we all agreed when we finished our meal that it was not a place we'd be returning too. It's a shame, too, because it's in a charming location and there is much to commend the effort put into the design of the restaurant. (Personally, those overhead lights were a little too bright, but maybe that's just nitpicking).

Great food and great ambience! Went for an early dinner on a Saturday night. Considering it was busy, not noticeably loud. Our server could have been a little more attentive. Found myself trying to get her attention when i wanted a glass of wine with my meal or the dessert menu or the check. Not enough to stop me from returning though. The only very minor, but memorable, part of the experience.

We had six people for lunch. We ordered very different meals and all were excellent. The service was prompt and courteous. The surroundings were accommodating and nice. We were not rushed to order or to complete out meal. We were at the table 3.5 hours.

The onion soup was full of bread- luke warm and the cheese thick and hard. Bread was stale. Fillet was raw. The food was a total disappointment.

Always a great overall experience eating here. We come to DC only once a year. We tried different places, but this is the one that has consistently given us an excellent experience- from the food to the service.. can’t say enough good things… try for yourself, you won’t be disappointed

We dined at the end of the lunch menu, and even though, it was quite empty, the waitstaff was very attentive not to mention how delicious the food was.
