Callie represents Chef Travis Swikard's debut solo project after spending a decade working alongside the esteemed Chef Daniel Boulud in New York City. The restaurant’s name, "Callie," comes from the Greek word "kallos," meaning "the most beautiful," and embodies its blend of Mediterranean cuisine with local ingredients and terroir, from sea to land from San Diego, Swikard's hometown. In 2022, Callie was acclaimed as one of America's top new restaurants by Esquire and Robb Report, and received both a Bib Gourmand and a Plate from the Michelin Guide. Callie is a dedicated supporter of Feeding San Diego, having contributed over 1 million meals to those in need in San Diego since its launch. Swikard is set to open his second restaurant in La Jolla in 2025.

From the OpenTable editors: Chef and San Diego native Travis Swikard is an alum of iconic restaurants like DANIEL, and that pedigree shines at this sophisticated Mediterranean spot named one of Esquire’s Best New Restaurants in America in 2022. Feast on plates like lemon saffron linguine or harissa-grilled lamb chops, or go all-in on a five-course family-style tasting menu. Either way, a meal in the inviting space decked with blue tiles and lush greenery feels like a lively dinner party on every visit.

The best meal during my stay in San Diego. The presentation is beautiful and consistent, cocktails and wine choices diverse, and the flavors rich and complex. The halibut special was exceptional. Server Derek was attentive and accommodating and Gabriel was efficient and subtle as he bussed and kept our water glasses topped off. Overall, a tight knit staff and exceptional prep made for a memorable evening!

Callie never disappoints we’ve had both the regular menu and attended their special chef series dinners and both are meals to remember. Chef Travis Swikard is the ultimate hospitalitarian. Their staff, the venue and the food leave nothing to be desired, they check all the boxes, every single time.

Callie was ov erall and excellent experience. The food is quite good, the dips outstanding and the Aleppo Chicken was also excellent. The pastas were small. The noise level was beyond energetic and interfered a bit with hearing others.

We came to San Diego to visit our son who recently moved to SD. We treated our son to dinner at Callie’s. Service was excellent. Food was well prepared and tasted great. Ordered a bottle of Racines Pinot Noir which was excellent. Restaurant noise was not an issue. reasonable Was surprised by 4 percent “surcharge,” which we learned is a thing in California.

Imaginative food well prepared, great wines, excellent service, but some items rather pricey for the size, and very loud.

We had the five course tasting menu with the wine pairing. It was fantastic. The consensus of our group was that it was the best meal that we have eaten in long time. Don't miss this place.
