About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Neighborhood gem
Located in the heart of the the Most Beautiful Square in Texas, City Post Chophouse began its story as a post office in the 1930s, during the Great Depression and Prohibition. Nearly a century later, the beautifully renovated historic building now offers an elevated dining experience, live music and private events.

Executive Chef Adrian Corkill has curated a stand-out menu, featuring fine cuts and chops of beef, lamb, and pork, as well as fresh seafood and decadent side dishes served family style, along with unique handcrafted cocktails. Accommodations for vegetarian, pescatarian, and gluten-free diets are readily available. Our wine selection includes something for everyone, with a variety of by-the-glass options.

Reservations can be made for lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch in our main dining room, where “Texas formal” attire is appropriate. Walk-ins are welcome in our oyster bar, where our full menu is available with a more relaxed dress code.

Excellent experience! The food and service were exceptional! The steak was the best I've had in 25 years. We will definitely visit again. City Post Chophouse is one of the best restaurants in Georgetown, if not all of Texas.

We all three had wonderful lobster, excellent service from JP and a tour of the speakeasy downstairs so we could enjoy that another time. It’s a lovely afternoon.

Our dinner was excellent! We were celebrating our anniversary with our friends who were visiting from AZ. The servers were very attentive to anything we needed. Heidi, our server, got three of us newly sharpened knives when we asked. The steaks (bone-in) were perfectly seasoned. Loved the house salad with pistachios, pears and Feta. Sides were generous enough for all 4 of us, except the baked potatoes where two were just enough. Went down to Speakeasy for dessert. Very charming and the music was very good. The only thing that wasn't excellent was the Creme Brûlée - the burnt sugar on top was a little too burnt, but the berries were sweet.

Great experience, and the food was delicious! Outstanding customer service from all of the staff. It was surprisingly noisy and loud once the tables were all filled. Not sure if they can do anything to lessen the noise level with some acoustic panels or something similar. The side dishes are a bit pricey if you add to your entree, and they need steak knives to cut the steak. It was a bit of work to cut the steak, and twice baked potatoes.

My friend and I enjoyed the Small Bites Tuesday event. It is the best kept secret around. You pay $24 and get served 4 portions, chef’s choice. You can add beverages and additional appetizers if you wish. This was the first time for my friend and she was blown away by the variety, incredible flavors and even tried oysters for the first time as an appetizer. We are already planning our next Tuesday adventure. Highly recommend this experience. If you have not tried City Post Chophouse, this is a wonder way to sample Chef Adrian’s cuisine.

I dream about their food at night. The bread, the wedge salad, the ribeye, the toffee pudding….everything.

My wife and I went for our Anniversary, from the moment we walked in, we felt important. Everyone was so friendly, our server, Graham went over and beyond to make our night special. The food was excellent. Good portions and excellent taste. You have to try the portobello mushrooms, so good. We're thinking of making this an Anniversary tradition!

Still the very best fine dining experience in Georgetown, TX! And the prices are not at all unreasonable given the quality of food, food presentation, timeliness of service, ambiance, and overall experience.
