   It's always the best place to have breakfast, lunch, tea and coffee. Staff are amazing, food is insanely good and best coffee and wine in Melbourne (except next door at the City Wine Shop!)

   The food was expensive and poor. The pasta was packet. The Marinara sauce had no flavour except garlic and the four pieces of seafood were not enough to compensate. The lamb and pork bolognaise was lumpy but otherwise OK, though very ordinary. On the other hand the service was excellent and the new room layout is good. The whipped cod is also as good as ever. However, despite coming here regularly for years we won’t be back. For the price there are many places with much better food.

   My family and I recently had the chance to dine at The European, and I have to say, it was such a fantastic experience. The ambiance was perfect—charming and welcoming. The food was incredible, with every dish impressing us more than the last. But honestly, what really made the day was our server, Oliver. He was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. His service really stood out and made the experience even better. I highly recommend The European and will definitely be back!

   With a days notice, I booked a table for a business lunch. On arrival, the staff were friendly and accommodating, immediately asking if I wanted to start with a drink. Nice! We started with some sparkling water (a cleanser for the Pinot Noir coming soon). Our waiter ran through the specials and guided us on some of the options. We went with the Hangar Steak. And wow, what a good choice. Cooked perfectly, moist, tender and succulent. I had a side salad which was perfectly seasoned and dressed. No dessert was needed as we washed the meal down with a lovely bottle of Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. Light enough to drink at a business lunch and red enough to compliment the steaks. All in all, highly recommend this Spring St institution. I will be back!

   A lovely room which unfortunately was overwhelmed by the volume of noise. We found it difficult to hear the service staff or our own guests, continually requesting all to repeat what was spoken. The menu was fine, as we're our meals...expensive, to be sure, but the meals were tasty and well presented. Remembering the old European we found the lack of consistency with which tables had or had not been covered in white table cloths seemed to denegrate the finness expected with a fine dining experience. We may have left with a headache but also left with contented stomachs.
