Following last year’s hugely successful Brunch with Santa, we’re delighted to bring them back for another year. We thoroughly enjoyed hosting families from near and far and can’t wait to welcome back the big man himself for another month of fun! We have a range of dates to choose from but do be careful as they sell out quickly. On the day you’ll enjoy a hearty brunch for adults (hot drink included) and we more than look after the wee ones with food & drink and of course a visit and gift from Santa. It was my girlfriend's birthday today, so our family all celebrated together with a meal on a terrace table of the Cold Town House. It was such a beautiful view of Edinburgh around us, plus energetic people and the service from the staff was phenomenal! One of the managers called Ben helped me put into place my plan for proposing to my now fiancé. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect setting for proposing and it's something we'll remember forever ❤️ thank you guys!!!

Impressed on previous occasions, we had travelled from the west coast hoping for much of the same; sadly, this experience has left us very disappointed. We’d booked in September for 5 people and arrived 45 minutes early; we were prepared to wait at the bar but this wasn’t offered until we asked if we could. Our table was ready on time but it was meters from the main entrance, within the bar itself; it appeared to be a table for drinks that had been set for food, but it was not in the restaurant; it was dark, loud, and there was a chill flowing from the front door. Annoyingly, only the festive menu was available -we hadn’t be told about this- & when we asked if we could ‘upgrade’ the fries that came with our burgers to loaded fries, we were told we would need to order additional fries as sides! I felt a drip on my head and again on my shoulder, more drips followed; it was coming from the pipework above our heads, which had been partially lagged and had tape hanging from it. We asked and were informed that it was just condensation. We insisted on being moved & after about 10 minutes we were told we could move but would need to vacate by 20.00, which gave us less than an hour to finish our meal. When our food arrived some time later, 2 of the additional portions of fries we had ordered -the fries we were unable to upgrade- did not arrived. We were told they would be with us within a few minutes, but did not come until we were halfway through our meal. The food was nice and the staff, friendly & helpful. Our experience, however, paled in comparison to our previous visits. The restaurant seemed quite busy but not all of the tables were full. 2 tables sat completely empty, another had only 3 people at it, & a further had 2 people and a dog! Yet, at the start of the night we had been sat at a table in the bar. It certainly did not scream "valued customer". The toilets were disgusting, with toilet rolls left unrolled on the floor. Sadly, we won’t return to CTH any time soon

Very slow service, had to ask them to take our main meal plates away as was sat with them for 30 mins, then I had to ask them to bring our desserts out as we had pre ordered everything, cakes took 25 mins to Come and came freezing Cold and paid £7-8 for the cakes each and was such let down. My mam who’s birthday it was they forget her meal even though we had pre ordered weeks in advance, so she had to wait 20 mins for her meal and we had all finshed our meal by the time my mams meal came. Didn’t come over once and ask if everything was okay At all, my mam was just walking to bar to get a drink as was quicker. Singers were great but staff and service and food was such a let down. We come to Edinburgh every year and always come here but this year felt very let down and won’t be returning for food

So festive and fun!! Great live music - fantastic pizza and apps. Really good beer with interesting flavors. Service was spotty but overall really fantastic Sunday night at Cold town.

First time visitor . Booked roof top terrace weeks in advance , knowing it was taking a chance in November. Right enough snow storm hit day of our visit . Staff phoned to make us aware of weather and moved our booking inside ,few hours later another call from staff to say grassmarket had a power cut and phoned again when electricity was back on … visited had a great night ( only drinks didn’t order food) … all made possible by the great communication by the staff … will def visit again

Cold town house is a beautiful atmosphere and the staff were incredible. Our server Amy was so lovely and bubbly, she recommended cocktails which were absolutely divine !! Overall we loved the food the drinks and the staff.
