Meals aren’t about trends, shock value, or opulence.
Meals are about moments, memories and those who surround you at your table.
We believe in the complexity of simplicity, and the power of pure flavors. Our histories, vast and varied, deserve to be memorialized and romanticized by dishes that at once remind us of home and transport us to somewhere new.

We don’t make food for everyone else, we make food for you.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Nina Compton

From the OpenTable editors: At Compère Lapin, James Beard Award-winning chef Nina Compton dazzles with showstopping dishes that marry her Caribbean heritage and French fine dining pedigree. Dig into favorites like goat curry and broiled shrimp with Calabrian chili butter in a stylish space dressed with exposed brick and warm woods. Don’t miss award-winning cocktails like The Copper Hopper—a tropical, tequila-forward drink served in a copper bunny mug, a nod to the restaurant’s namesake folklore rabbit.

The overall experience was okay, but there’s definitely room for improvement, especially with the service. It took quite a while to get our drinks, and the server seemed to struggle with taking orders. She insisted on waiting for everyone to order instead of putting in partial orders, which caused some confusion. On a positive note, the appetizers were excellent, and the main course had a standout dish: the red temper, which was fantastic. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal wasn’t as enjoyable. The fried chicken had such a thick crust that it was not edible. The pasta we ordered was unexpectedly very spicy—far beyond pleasant heat—and there was no mention of this on the menu, which was disappointing since we have a good heat tolerance. Lastly, the roti was deep-fried and dripping with oil, which made it feel overly greasy. If they can improve the service and provide clearer menu descriptions, this could be a much better dining experience.

i can only sum up our experience as a salt shaker one. Every dish saw so salty it was barely edible. We did the chef experience...and waster $200. Very disappointing!

Great food, weird vibe and quite a lot of time between courses. Waiter was very knowledgeable.

We have been meaning to try this restaurant for years and finally made it. It was very good and everyone had a great time. Ambiance was awesome and the place was full. Our waiter did an excellent job. We had the hush puppies which were probably ly the best I ever had. The biscuits were also incredible. Main dishes were great but the fish filets were on the small side. Best main dish was the jerk chicken. It was amazing. Overall would for sure return!
