Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Michael Stoltzfus and Kristen Essig

From the OpenTable editors: Chef Michael Stoltzfus showcases local ingredients at his swanky Southern bistro, nominated for numerous James Beard Awards since opening in 2008. In a two-story residence in the Garden District that dates back to the 1880s, the elegant dining rooms are lined with brick and chandeliers. Gulf seafood stars at the raw bar, from local oysters to crabmeat and crackers, and fans love the fried chicken brunches and “no menu” five-course dinners.

Review summary

AI-generated from verified diner reviews
Coquette offers a delightful gastropub vibe with "fantastic food and cocktails" and a menu influenced by Cajun Creole flavors. While the ambiance is lively with jazzy music, service can vary with some delays noted. The staff is attentive, often providing thoughtful gestures like complimentary wine. A "wonderful experience" awaits!

Excellent service from Susan. She allowed us plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely meal while still being very attentive. We ordered drinks and the Boudin & Grits appetizer. My wife's Woodford Reserve on the rocks was a generous pour. The bonding was full of flavor, and combined with the other ingredients was quite amazing. Next, we ordered the Crabmeat Maison. Wow, a large portion of outstanding lump crabmeat served with crackers and cocktail sauce. Both small plates were enough to split. We split the smoked short rib entre. We probably could have each had our own, but we were still satisfied. The smokiness was wonderful. It was served over Butternut squash with black-eyed peas and cranberries. Again, an excellent and unique combination of flavors. We will definitely return on our next visit to New Orleans.

Horrible service. We were sat immediately but waited approximately 20 minutes for a waiter to stop at our table. Cocktails were brought to us after another 20 min or so passed. Food was less than mediocre. Some dishes were cold. Our waiter seem annoyed to even have to do his job. Wouldn’t eat here again if it was the only restaurant open in the city.

Fabulous! Sat at the bar and Ty, the master mixologist, made the evening exceptional. Great recs on drinks and food. Watching him mix drinks and learn about some of the ingredients he uses added to our experience. A great evening!

Everything was amazing. The entire menu looked so good I was a little bummed I would only get through 20% of the menu. If I lived in the city I would be back once a month. Sat at the bar, cocktails were great. Got a Rye’d the Lighting, definitely fall/winter seasonal. The second cocktail was a mix of Rum, Heaven Hill Whiskey, I think amarro and bitters? That was killer. I think it was maybe a take on a black manhattan. Raw bar was delicious. The red snapper though was the best part of the meal. Best dish I’ve had in a while. The turnip bernaise was awesome and there were some subtle umami flavors we couldn’t pin down. Just an awesome dish all around. Would recommend any time. Hopefully I can make it back to NOLA again for another go around.

Busy Friday night. They were slammed both upstairs and down. The food was amazing, but the server was buried, under supported, and inefficient. I’m an old vet of the business, and very understanding, but it shouldn’t take 2.5 hours for 3 people to dine over 3 courses, but it’s also somewhat understandable.
