Cornus delights with "superb food and impeccable service," complemented by an "impressive wine list." Located in Eccleston Yards, its "airy, stylish setting" offers stunning views. The tasting menu features creative dishes with standout options like the Devon crab and lobster ravioli. Though some find it pricey, "it's worth every penny."

Food was very salty with lots of repetitions in the ingredients and sauces between courses - I had the 6 course tasting menu. The excess salt resulted in the lack of freshness in the taste. It didn’t feel like I had a tasting menu but a reduction of techniques and ingredients I suspected this when looking at the menu but chose to stay as I was looking forward to this lunch Service and ambience were great, but I come to a restaurant to eat:)

The service was friendly and impeccable throughout from the greeting as the lift door opened through to fetching our coats as we left. Water was unobtrusively topped up and napkins folded when we left the table. We had that day's tasting menu and were very impressed. The food was simply superb, beautifully presented, well portioned and served at a reasonable pace. The wine flight had some unusual but nonetheless delightful wines even though one red, for me, didn't quite do service to the delicious cod it was served with. A great option is the three-glass flight for those who aren't especially keen on drinking six wines. The sommelier was excellent in describing the wines and explaining how they matched the food. Slight quibble with the cognacs available by the glass: an XO would have been good but the VSOP on offer was reasonably priced. Tables were suitably sized and distanced and the low background music added to a pleasant ambience on a fairly quiet Monday evening. The price for the tasting menu has recently been increased by 10% and the 15% service charge leaves a sting in the tail. Why do restaurants do that? Surely it's far better (and more honest?) to have a smaller service charge (10% seems reasonable to me even though the norm these days appears to be 12.5%) and up the price of the dish (or in this case menu) to cover it. The price doesn't change but the diner knows where they stand from the beginning and leaves without that slightly aggrieved feeling after an otherwise excellent meal. On this occasion (and it was an occasion) the overall price was justified as we had an excellent meal and a wonderful dining experience. I'm sure we will be back to try out the terrace tables and a la carte menu one balmy summer evening.

Expensive given portion sizes. Ordered ala carte but felt portions were tasting menu sized. Starters and mains delicious. Desserts underwhelming, did not deliver on flavor. Ambience beautiful. Service attentive, best was the bread.

We had the tasting menu at dinner. Savoury courses were of a consistently outstanding standard: very fine ingredients, precise cookery, excellent depth of flavour, well judged seasoning, and plenty of balance. The desserts were excellent, and technically skilled, though not quite of the same standard as the savoury courses, particularly in terms of depth of flavour. The wine tasting was good value, with some interesting wines, all of them pairing well with their respective dishes. Service was slick and very professional, but could have been a little warmer to really elevate the experience. The restaurant is very smart, but was a little on the warm side, and didn't have a huge amount of atmosphere on a Tuesday evening.

The food was delicious but the vegetarian options were very limited (one main, no starter) and the vegetarian portions were very small, so not great value for money. I would also say that the desserts were not great value for money. We did enjoy our meal but would not recommend it to vegetarians at least.

We visited Cornus for an early lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant is located in Eccleston Yards, just off Eccleston Street, and is on the fourth floor so it has a lovely, calm atmosphere with lots of natural light, views of rooftops and no traffic noise. There is a sunny terrace which we were told will soon be open to diners. We chose the set menu which was good value at £55 for three courses (with two choices per course). We were given three delicious amuse-bouches: a gougère filled with Gruyère cheese, a squid ink cracker (think prawn cracker) with taramasalata, and a small cube of deep-fried meltingly savoury pig's head with pickled walnut ketchup on top. My starter was a warm salad of winter fruits and vegetables with BBQ apple sauce and roasted hazelnut, while my partner chose asparagus velouté with a snail raviolo. The salad was very good but the velouté was outstanding. My partner was not drinking but I had a glass of very good Greek white wine (the grape was Assyrtiko - I forgot to make a note of the other details) which went perfectly with the salad. My main course (slow-cooked pork cheeks in red wine reduction, with polenta, asparagus and spinach) was excellent and my partner's home-rolled spaghetti with cockles and wild garlic very good too. For dessert we both had Garrigues strawberry and rhubarb fool with madeleines - this was one of the best desserts I've eaten in a long time. I finished with a delicious oolong tea from Cornus's extensive tea menu - they offer tea pairings as an alternative to wine with the tasting menu, which I will definitely try on a future visit. The tea (and my partner's very good coffee) were accompanied by lychee and rose macarons and clotted cream fudge. The staff were very welcoming, friendly and attentive.
