   The service really let my recent visit down. It seemed like none of the staff wanted to be there!! After waiting in the doorway for 15 minutes we were then approached by a member of staff who showed us to our table. He informed us that food would be about a 30 minute wait. After waiting another 15 minutes the server was back to take our order. No engagement in explaining the menu or giving us recommendations. I did ask for a smaller portion of pancakes as I knew 4 would be too much, but he couldn’t accommodate my request. To be fair the food and drinks came fairly quickly. Pancakes were nice, but after eating half, the chocolate became quite sickly and I was done. Once we were finished we decided to get up and head over to the till as during our time eating no-one checked on us or when we were finished to clear the table. Our server seen us leaving and pointed to the half eaten pancakes, he said aren’t you going to take them with you. I did say I asked for a smaller portion, it was such a waste just eating half, but I didn’t want to walk round Edinburgh with a half eaten box of chocolate pancakes. Unfortunately this is another “hook” by Instagram. It certainly didn’t live up to my expectations.

   My favourite cafe ever. The food here, especially the pancakes, is just heavenly. This place is every chocolate lover's dream. I largely travel to Edinburgh (from Ireland) just to go here...

   Food was excellent as always, very strange experience being sent away because we didn't have a booking at 21.00 yet was able to book and be served at 21.30 even though no new people had entered and at 21.30 they were even turning away take aways, booking recommended.

   The food itself was pretty good but the service was terrible. They were very slow and also not very attentive, the drinks were also warm, my partner ordered a milkshake and it might well have been warm milk!

    The chocolate was amazing!😍 Everything on the menu was so good! I had to have the chocolate cake as this is what I saw on Instagram!!! Next time I will be having the chocolate fondue! The decor could do with updating in my opinion. Service was very slow despite what seemed to be a lot of staff roaming around. Areas for improvement: have someone on the door/managing the queue outside as you had to queue to get to the door despite having a reservation. Once inside there was no one to greet you and again had to wait. Then had to wait 10 mins for order to be taken, and longer still for drinks to arrive. This was my only critique which I thought worth mentioning so the place can improve, but overall I absolutely loved it and will definitely be back ☺️
