We are a wine shop inside of a restaurant | Dining and design form the perfect union at San Diego's highly acclaimed CUCINA urbana, a California-inspired Italian kitchen and wine shop, located in the heart of Bankers Hill since 2009.

The restaurant boasts comfort and familiarity, welcoming diners to a country farmhouse with the added whimsy of a contemporary art installation.

CUCINA urbana is the originator of the CUCINA retail wine program where each dedicated shop allows guests to hand select wines at a retail price, either to enjoy with their meal for a minimal corkage fee or for purchase to-go. The wine list is comprised of many familiar labels as well as rare and small-batch gems, with an emphasis on Italian varietals.

    Delicious homemade pasta, great wine selection! It’s also a wine store and there was no corkage fee tonight! We enjoyed the grilled octopus, focaccia bread, and the bucatini pasta dish (add egg!).

    Overall, my experience at CUCINA urbana was pretty good. I did have higher expectations coming in as I had heard great things, but nothing really blew my socks off or overly stood out.

    Everything here is so fresh and delicious. From the cocktails, apps, pastas and pizzas, you can't go wrong. Service was awesome as well. Already thinking about my next visit.

    This spot lived up to its rating. I came here for a business dinner with two important guests. Noise level was surprisingly low for how large the space is. Food was delicious and as advertised with a wide menu of options. Highly recommend!

    Great place as I remember. My girlfriend loved the food and selection. I did as well. Trying to get indoor seating for two was tougher than I hoped but ultimately (even sitting outside,) the service was quick, polite and informative. Look forward to coming back.

    I recall eating here during COVID, but it seems to me that the place has improved tremendously. The food was superb. The wine was very good and moderately priced. Our server was great too.
