Cured – The gastro-pub style restaurant, in the heart of the Pearl District of San Antonio, TX. Cured is endowed with a name that celebrates Chef Steve McHugh's successful battle against cancer, as well as the artisanal cured meats that are the cornerstone of his menu. The three-time James Beard Award finalist began his culinary journey on a small farm in Wisconsin and a vibrant decade in New Orleans. This position eventually led him to San Antonio where, with a new lease on life after beating lymphoma, he ventured out on his own to open Cured. McHugh's gastronomic foundation relies on the purity of natural regional ingredients and the hands-on unadultured methods that enhanced his own healing process. This from-scratch focus finds its way to seasonally dynamic menus of cured delicacies from the charcuterie to pickles.

Why they're an Icon

Executive chef: Steve McHugh

From the OpenTable editors: Cured is where you go for some of the country’s best charcuterie, thanks to James Beard-nominated chef Steve McHugh. Step into the rustic, century-old brick building with ham hocks swinging in a glass case, then choose from nearly a dozen charcuterie options like venison loin to elk paté. Don’t miss other menu standouts like crispy fried quail legs and steak frites starring premium cuts of beef like a dry-aged porterhouse

We had a delightful Sunday brunch at Cured in the Pearl. I savored the fluffy soufflé egg, while my husband indulged in his favorite double blue ribbon burger. The Cured restaurant consistently delivers exceptional food and service, whether we’re dining for brunch, lunch, or dinner.

Charcuterie selections were diverse and scrumptious. Caprese salad was spot on, fresh with a wicked Buffalo mozzarella. Lobster gnocchi was rich and filling. Service was excellent!

Sat outside which was informal but lively. Happened to be there at happy hour so got to taste a lot of little bites: quail legs (amazing), brisket slider (so good) Empanada (so good!) and their charcuterie plate. I have had a lot of high end local charcuterie and this I must say was one of the best. Dessert was phenomenal - the Opera Cake is a MUST. The softserve icecream though I love that it was organic was so light that the chocolate flavor did not come through. I will be back here in a heartbeat. Loved loved loved.

Was more minimalist than I thought and we got a poor seat in back of restaurant against our objections. I have had many charcuterie plates and this did not ovewhelm for cost and amount received. All in all I was expecting more ambience and upscale nature but had basics. Was solid place but not for occasion we sought.

Located in nice area (the Pearl), minimalist dining room decor. Menu selections left us wanting more options. Our server informed us of several items we tried to order were sold out (the place was NOT busy... so weird they were out of things). Tried the meat & cheese board - only three cheeses to choose from, all soft cheeses. The meats were okay. Board was small. Overall we had a nice time, but felt underwhelmed by the overpriced offerings.

Waiter was very friendly & knowledgeable. Let them guide your selections. Gin & Tonic was oddly good. The gin was so good you didnt really need the tonic.

Brunch after Mass on Sunday was outstanding. Wonderful service and delicious food. My over easy eggs were done perfectly. The grits were superb. My Bloody Mary came with a large fresh shrimp. Would highly recommend for Sunday Brunch!
