Owners Luis Raga and Raul Aguilera brings you their vision of a casual bar/restaurant in Spain: a fun and unpretentious spot to gather friends, family, or dates. We bring you flavors from all over Spain, the concept is tapas and paellas to be shared at the table. You'll see dishes come on and off the menu often and while we offer a broad selection of dishes, due to our small kitchen, certain tapas will run out during the service. Don’t miss our Happy hour Mon-Fri 5-6pm ONLY on BAR & HIGH TOPS for heavily discounted tapas and drinks.
Also, make sure to check our back patio, it will transport you to a warm summer night of the south of Spain.
If driving street parking could be tricky, check out the SF general hospital parking structure just 2 blocks away from the restaurant. If coming from the East Bay or Peninsula location is just a few blocks from the freeway (exit Cesar Chavez/Potrero on the 80 freeway). The nearest Bart station is at Potrero & 24th, a 15-minute walk.

Hip crowds and ambience. Half of the food we ordered were good but the other half lacked flavor. Tomato sauce was excellent but I’d rather have it as soup without the bread. The fried anchovy had too much dough and felt like anchovy paste rather than fresh whole fish. The pork cheek lacks flavor again and the mashed potatoes was too gummy. For desert, we had fruit roll which we expected fluffy cake with fruit flavor but it was too dense texture with fake cream fillings. Willing to try one more time to render my final assessment

The experience was worth the Uber ride. We had such an enjoyable evening speaking with Raul while enjoying the food and service. We sipped the recommended wine as we shared multiple courses throughout the evening. To top off the evening we had to order dessert and try all three with a cappuccino. Thank you for such a great time.

Service was top notch!! All the food we had was spectacular as well. After visiting Spain we had high standards and loved Destapas. Some highlights: -squid ink paella -ham croquettes -Spanish omelette -basque cheesecake we will be back to Destapas soon!!

Good selection of Spanish wines and a few Spanish beers. We ate at the bar and enjoyed the patatas bravas, pear salad, and then the seafood paella. I make paella regularly, and this one was really good, except a little more cooking time would have delivered the crusty, caramelized, Socarrat on the bottom of the pan. Overall, a very pleasant experience. We will go back!

We went to Destapas for a girls’ night since we were craving tapas and vermouth. This place hit the spot! We sat outside and it was perfect. The food and service was all great. Thank you!
