   This was a girls weekend for us and we enjoyed the setting and location of District 42. We didn’t realize it was at a hotel and never once felt like we were in a hotel. Set in the middle of the city it was fun to have our first evening there!

   Waitress had great people skills very polite she seated to our table there was no hostess we had Caesar salad was terrible dressing was terrible had better out of bottle green lettuce look lot left over. We also had pizza was ok the person who delivered our food there was no napkin or utensils on table we ask her bring Grated cheese and crush red pepper we had to wait for it so our pizza got cold. I feel there was no manager on duty if there was a person they weren’t over other floor I wouldn’t come again for the price I paid for dinner

   If I could leave 0 stars I absolutely would. The bartenders were so incredibly rude we ended up leaving & going somewhere else. I wasn’t aware that there were 2 restaurants in the hotel. I walked in on the district 42 side, there was not a host so I asked the brunette woman bartender “oh is that the host stand?” & in the most disrespectful attitude I received an eye roll & “yep” in return. Turns out, that host stand was for the other restaurant. No big deal. I went back to the bar & asked if it was okay that we sat outside because we had our dogs with us. I asked the other bartender if we needed to order at the bar. Again, received attitude & a condescending “sure” I had to ask if they had menus & he acted as if I was inconveniencing him. We come to Asheville quite a bit as we only live a couple hours away & I would never recommend this place to anyone.

   We loved sharing the Mediterranean board and a pizza while listening to the cellist. We had a booth in District 42 - quiet and relaxing evening.

   The reviews were misleading. The pizza, which is the majority of the menu, was not good at all. The flavor was lacking anything impressive. There is so much good food around downtown Asheville, I would not waste my time or money here again.

   Food is extremely overpriced for what it is. We don’t mind paying for good food but this wasn’t it. $14 for a Prosecco. Almost $20 for a Caesar salad that they don’t bother to cut, they give you entire leaves with one small dressing. Burger was overcooked and dry, small patties. Server didn’t check on us and served another table prior to ours when we had reservations and they came after. Ambiance itself is nice, otherwise would not recommend, so many other quality places in Asheville with great food-don’t waste your time.

   We had dinner and drinks here on Oct 16, 2023. The bartender was friendly, professional and she made terrific drinks. The pizza we shared was very tasty. Overall, a very good experience and we would return to this restaurant again. Recommended!

    Great place to meet prior to concert - excellent food / service / cocktails and enjoyed the dog friendly vibe too.
