   Staff very attentive, clean, lovely food. Would have preferred more sandwiches and less cakes, just my preference

   Lovely Valentines Day afternoon tea. Beautiful surroundings, and the staff very attentive. Probably a little expensive but very tasty food.

   The staff, food and ambience made our Valentine afternoon tea very special. The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble.

   Very disappointing when the standard of the food in the main cafe is excellent. The fillings in the sandwiches were lovely but the bread extremely dry which ruined them - as if prepared well in advance and left out. The scones were great and the macaroons but the rest of the cakes were dry and disappointing. Won’t be rushing back for afternoon tea.

   We booked an afternoon tea as a gift from my friend. Easy to book and had multiple emails and texts to ensure we were on time. Got to the coach house ten minutes before to find nothing open and another couple unsure as to what to do. I walked round to the shop, asked if we were in the right place which they then went to check, we were. 12:05 doors open which left a bad feeling as we were told so many times you need to be there for 12. Afternoons tea choices were great, food was ok but dry. We were able to get some more tea which was fantastic. What frustrated us most was the service, whilst enjoying our afternoon tea all you could hear was the servers sorting our cutlery from behind the wall divider. We had to get up and go round the divider to ask for our bill to which we found 5 members of staff sorting cutlery with no one out front to see if anyone needed anything. Asked for the bill, everything sorted but it just left a really weird feeling with us. I’ve seen comments before where it’s mentioned we should have spoke up but unfortunately we couldn’t find anyone to speak to. The venue is gorgeous and we will return but we will just go to the cafe rather than afternoon tea.

   I had the vegan option with the afternoon tea menu. Very disappointing. The scone was rock hard and the other cakes were also hard - think they were stale.

   We needed somewhere halfway to meet for a 60th birthday. The online reviews were amazing, so we decided to book Doddington. The staff were nice enough, but the food was awful. The sandwiches were OK, the cakes were no better than supermarket ones and the scones were so dry. Spoilt what was supposed to be an experience. Won’t be returning.

   I came for my birthday and it was a little difficult to find where to go at first. We waited where it said ‘Wait to be seated’ and took a while to be noticed. I’d say if going to do that have people check it quite regularly. The food and menu was wonderful. They were able to make changes due to our preferences. I would say that the servers could be more aware and scan the room more to see if people need assistance etc. I know we are younger than the usual clientele so perhaps this isn’t something you’re wanting to be mindful of. When the servers are at the PC they all have their backs to the tables which isn’t ideal. Obviously they delivered things in timely manner but if you wanted to get their attention this was difficult. I’d recommend moving the PC to the right of the bar and have their backs to the corner of the room. They can then input on PC and be able to keep an eye on customers. I know it would take some work to move to PC but I do think it would work better for service staff and mean don’t have backs to customers for any considerable amount of time. We enjoyed the day and I would go there again. I used to be a server and worked up to Manager. I have worked with the legend that is Gordon Ramsay and he said I understand customers very well and have empathy for staff and customers and aim to give best service always. I’ve only giving this feedback to offer as an improvement on an already great experience. The servers were lovely I just saw too much of their backs is all.

    A beautifully decorated room with tables well spaced out. Service is excellent, plenty of efficient, polite staff. A good offering for afternoon tea with a choice of sweet, savoury and vegan options. Sadly, my scone was too dry otherwise it would have been a 5-star experience.
