   Unfortunately, our much anticipated meal at Eataly turned out to be a dud. Firstly, there was a long wait on our reservation after check in, once inside we learned of a half occupied restaurant. Our waiter appeared right away for water , and appropriately timed his revisit to the table few minutes later for our complete order. We waited an appropriate amount of time for our 2 pasta dishes to come out , however our children’s pizza and calzone order arrived 20 full minutes later. The waiter arrived with the pizza & calzone, remarking that those orders had already been comped. No fault to the waiter, he appeared to be doing the best he could within the circumstance. The food taste , pasta parmigiana 7/10, lasagna 8/10 , pizza 5/10 ( very undercooked, drippy dough) , calzone 7/10. The decor / general ambiance of the restaurant is spacious, clean and upscale. It was a minimally acceptable experience , propped up by a waiter who was switched on to the deficiencies of the restaurant. Score 6/10 .. we won’t be rushing back.

   Great service. We got lucky we got a bi-lingual personnel and that helped a lot with family visiting outside Canada that speak minimum english.

   Host amazing. Service from the waiter was poor. Asked for extra sauce on the pasta and was told “ill try.. we are a very strict restaurant the chef may not like that”… another family member asked for chicken on their pasta “we are an authentic italian restaurant”. We were all put off by his replies. I ordered my regular seafood pasta and the waiter was going around and adding cheese to our plates. He did not ask me if I wanted cheese on my plate but he started grating cheese on top and I had to tell him to stop.

   As is always the case with over-hyped restaurants, this wasn't anything amazing. Christmas Feast had three option and the fish wasn't available. When the mini menu becomes way smaller, there isn't much option. The mocktails also weren't available. It just wasn't worth the value for us.

   I had a wonderful time today at Eataly. The staff were amazingly friendly given I was dining by myself on Christmas Day. The meal was delicious and it was a relaxed experience. I had the Crispy polenta and the Bacalla and both were delicious! I was never rushed by the server and she very kindly presented me with a complimentary glass of Prosecco. I will definitely be back to try the pizza which looked amazing!

   The food is very flavorful, fresh pasta with great taste, a pleasant atmosphere, fair prices, excellent service—I highly recommend it and will be back soon.
