Total was $340- which felt incredibly extreme given the offering- wouldn’t go back

My husband and I went there on the Valentine’s Day to just have a couple of appetizers with drinks. When I was booking, the dinner fixed menu would start at 5pm but when we got there at 3:15pm for our reservation, they said the kitchen has already turned and they will allow us to order a la carte. I was like hmm… As we were ordering with our waiter, the host in the front ran over to us and literally yelled at the price for each item as if he was deterring us to order a la carte. He was pointing items on the fixed mane saying $30, $55, etc. I couldn’t even follow him. He just really rude. While we were dining, they were planning for the V day dinner so they were blowing up balloons and popping several so made me startled. I understand that it was a big day for restaurants but they should cater for other patrons too. Otherwise, don’t have the restaurant open at that time. I have been to Elia many times but it was just aweful and lackluster. The apps we ordered were cold and no flavor. The Wagye beef steak strips were so hard, tough, cold, and no favor. Wagyu shouldn’t be and based on the texture it wasn’t even wagyu. Overall, deeply disappointed and don’t think I will go back to Elia for a while until this experience is erased from my memory.

Had early Valentine's Day dinner and this is our go to place in Pleasanton. We are lucky to live only 5 minutes from downtown but would drive here no matter what for the food and service. We can decide to either have leisurely 1.5-2 hour dinner or eat and run in an hour and it is our choice. The service is always great and everyone is so attentive. The food is consistent and delicious. Our favorites are the octopus and cauliflower appetizers and the Lavraki and Halibut entrees.

This is one of the best restaurants in Pleasanton. The food and Service are always outstanding. Since it is a little pricey, I tend to go here only for special occasions but I have never been disappointed as everything is always fabulous!

This was my second meal at Elia. The food was delicious and the waiter was friendly and helpful. I was having lunch with a friend and we did find the noise level a bit too loud. Maybe better to come with a larger crowd or choose an outside table. But I will definitely go back.

Our host, Arthur, was fairly attentive, albeit condescending. I ordered a bottle of local California Merlot which Elia was out of. Arthur suggested what he called a similar wine in price and flavor profile. It was a Washington Cabernet Sauvignon priced $28 more. We chose a different, local wine. The food is very good, but extremely pricey. The restaurant is too noisy to have a normal conversation. They have a beautiful patio so once it's warmer that may be a good way to go. This was our second visit and although is was a little disappointing, based on our first visit and the fun we had, I would visit it a third time. Some positives: delicious food, coat & purse racks at the tables, and a great bar.
