Since 2011, EMei has emerged as one of Philadelphia's premier dining destinations, celebrated for its authentic Chinese cuisine curated by Master Chef Zhao and a team of 6 wok chefs that born and trained in the Sichuan region of China.
Boasting over 50 years of expertise in mastering Sichuan cuisine, Chef Zhao skillfully infuses dishes with bold chili oils, aromatic peppercorns, and expertly seasoned cuts of fish, meat, and produce.
Situated conveniently in Chinatown, EMei diligently procures fresh ingredients daily. With a menu featuring 120 items, including house-made egg rolls and dumplings, we take pride in crafting everything in-house.     Great server. Very attentive. Very crowded. Great parking nearby. Good food. Spicy. Fun environment. Not romantic spot because it is very loud. Has liquor incense and bar but bar is small and by front door so when door opens it is cold.

    Service was excellent with a huge selection of food to pick from. Portions were large and delicious. As with most restaurants in Chinatown do not expect any ambiance.

    When we arrived for early dinner at 5:30 there were only a few tables dining. Within 30 minutes the restaurant was full. The service was a bit slow. Our food took a while to come out. The food was great as usual! Unfortunately our table was directly under a vent blowing cold air. So our dishes got cold quickly. And we were also cold. Overall not conducive to a great dining experience.

    We had a reservation for 6:15pm booked 4 days in advance. We get there and they did not seat us until 7pm. The table that was supposed to ours was not leaving. What’s the point of a reservation if we need to wait 45 minutes to be seated?

    As someone who grew up in China and visited Sichuan multiple times, I feel like they have pretty authentic Sichuan cuisine, everything is by the books. The spice level is definitely toned down but the flavor is great.

    Party of five, so got to try many dishes, and all were excellent. While the cuisine is spicy, the food is not overly spicy, everything was flavorful and well prepared. The whole fish, chicken/cabbage dumplings, and noodle dishes stood out.

    Amazing gluten free Chinese food! We LOVED it! Fire alarm went off and took awhile to get turned off. That was annoying. But everything else was fabulous!
