   My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful New Year's Eve dinner at Fig & Ash. It was our first time there and we really enjoyed the food and the drinks. My wife's flatiron steak was delicious and I really liked their version of meatloaf - more like chopped steak than traditional meatloaf in terms of texture so a bit unusual but still delicious. My Spruce Sprig-steen cocktail was delightful, too. We got seated right next to a very loud party of four, and the noise level in the quaint indoor space was a bit loud for our taste. Also, we were disappointed that the wine list in person was very different than the one posted on their website, so the wine we had been hoping to try was not available. Other than those things, we enjoyed our first visit and hope the return the next time we are in Pittsburgh!

   First time here for NYE. Had 5pm reservation and they literally open the doors right at 5pm just in case you come on a chilly evening. Parking was nice and a convenient lot right behind the building. We got the porchetta app that was flavorful but a little on the fatty side even for pork belly. Wife's flat iron steak was great. My meat loaf was a little dry and mashed potatoes could have been hotter but overall a good time. Would go back.

   Delicious food and superb service. A little loud and tight for my taste, but it is one of my favorites. So glad it’s on the Northside.

   The food and atmosphere is wonderful. The real secret to their success is the amazing ownership and the efficiency and friendliness of the wait staff. A real dining pleasure!!!

   This was our second time at F&A. The carrots and the Brussels Sprouts apps were both 10/10. The three of us had the meatloaf, the skirt steak, and the pork shank. Everyone thought theirs was delicious!!! The only weak spot was the chocolate chip soufflé, which we all thought was an average dessert that had a peculiar sour taste. Our waiter noticed and offered to either bring another or replace it with a different dessert, but we all were so full, we politely passed. Dinner was so good we have reservations again for Friday (three days after this visit).

   The atmosphere in the restaurant is warm & cozy. The area walking to & from the car was sketchy & we did not feel safe which is not what you would expect from the pictures. The store across the street has bars on the windows. The other thing that was disappointing is the menu. They do not have options or accommodations for people who have dietary restrictions & hold strong on their no substitutions. They do have a gluten free brownie but I’d rather have options for dinner than dessert. The food was good but not to the extent of the prices.

    A cool spot… packed and lively… definitely offers a “this is where ya wanna be” vibe. Menu had lots of great choices. Bone marrow appetizer was a delicious standout. Good service. Entrees were more or less all over-seasoned, in my opinion. The cuts of meat were lovely, high quality stuff, I wish the flavors would have been able to shine through a bit more but the seasonings and sauces were way heavier than what we prefer. Dessert was fantastic. Would try again in the hopes maybe the flavors of the mains would be more “on” next time. Enjoyed the atmosphere and pace very much.
