   As much as my husband and I have enjoyed dining at Firebirds over the years, the past few visits have not met our expectations. We keep hoping it was just an off-night and that things will be different next time, but our experiences seem to be trending in the other direction. While not an ultra-high-end steakhouse, we still consider Firebirds a very nice place and a bit higher priced than most. So, we expect both good service and food. Our dinner date last night was neither of those things and left us disappointed, again. We both ordered the three course meals. We like the concept and appreciate the effort to make things more affordable. Our salads came out in a timely manner and were delicious. About 5 minutes later, and only half way through our salads, both our meals arrived. That is just terrible timing and made us feel very rushed to finish our salad or skip it and enjoy a hot dinner. At this point, it felt as though we were being herded in and out as quickly as possible in order to turn the table for the next set of dinner guests. We inhaled the rest of our salads, in less than a minute, hoping our steak dinners would not get cold. Unfortunately, we discovered our steaks were barely warm. My husband sent his steak back. Instead of providing a new, hot steak, they simply warmed up his original one with a new baked potato added on the side. Warming up a cold steak simply doesn’t taste as good and it is now overly cooked. When you come to a Firebirds restaurant, you expect everything to be top-notch – well timed, fresh and not rewarmed. The final part of our trifecta meal was dessert. We both ordered the Crème Brulé cheesecake. It was quite bad. The cheesecake was dry, very cold and they used canned whipped cream. Yuck! This latest experience could be the final straw and I’m not sure we will go back. There are too many other options in Northern Virginia for exceptional service and food. To the management’s credit, they did apologize and comped my husband‘s meal.

   Nice place. Food and bar drinks are hit or miss but most of the time it’s good. Just a little on the pricey side.

   Our server, Mac, was attentive and helpful, and mindful of my food allergy. The meals were all unique and delicious. As we were celebrating a birthday Mac brought out a lovely decorated dessert with a card signed by staff- such a special touch! Definitely a five star experience!

    Had a great time on NYE with good food, drinks and ambiance. Jazz was a fantastic and attentive server who made our dining experience perfect.
