    Los Angeles' Soul Food scene has really diminished over the last 30 years, so it's refreshing to have an authentic, high quality soul food experience. We went on New Year's night and the place was PACKED! Even though we were 45 minutes late for our reservation (Rose Bowl traffic), the hostess worked us in and we were seated about 10 minutes after checking in. Our server was very cheerful and knowledgeable about the menu (as was, we later discovered, the busser). We had the Ox Tails (amazingly tender & flavorful, with a touch of umami - not sure if it was Worcestershire or Soy - that gave them tang), Fried Chicken, Red Beans, Okra, Collard Greens, Yams, Corn Bread and Peach Cobbler. The chicken was crispy, yet the breast was still moist, and the red beans were classic. The okra was charred excellently (I usually don't like okra) and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Collards and Yams were authentic southern style. The cobbler was a little syrupy, but tasted great. BUT IT'S THE SERVICE THAT MADE EVERYTHING STAND OUT - from the greeters to the bussers, the staff was amazing, which made the experience all the better.

    Portions were good, service was great and it’s a really nice, clean establishment for all ages. However, me and my date did not care for the Mac and cheese alongside the cat fish. I’d return and try something else but be advised it’s downtown so parking will be pricy.

    The food is tasty and the vibe is great with the DJ spinning R&B and hip hop. However, do not come here if you have time sensitive plans after. I have been multiple times, even with reservations we have always had to wait 15-30 mins to be seated and service is SLOW. During my most recent experience, the entire meal: apps, then entrees came out before our cocktails that we ordered as soon as we were seated!

    The food and music were amazing! Even the chicken breast was flavorful and juicy. And we sat outside on a cool day, but they have heaters every few feet and can set them to your liking. I loved seeing the people walking by enjoy the music!

    Excellent! The catfish nuggets, deviled eggs, oxtails, chicken and waffle are my favorites! All the beverages are amazing from the kool aid to the cocktails. The fixer up (espresso martini) is my new favorite. Love this place. The food., service and atmosphere are all top tier.
