   Concept was cool, space was really nice. Drinks were great, though pricey which is to be expected. The noise level was really loud and it made it difficult to have conversation. It was a Saturday night so it being busy was expected. Didn’t eat anything to judge the food. Would go again but maybe on a less busy/popular night.

   Overall the atmosphere was very nice at Folia. The only issues we had during our visit was that they were out of a lot things just for it to be early in the night and the waitress forgot to add in our food order. Also, it took quite some time for us to receive our drinks.

   I actually didn’t try any food here. But Open Table made me give a rating for it anyway. We had mocktails and loved them!

   The space is beautiful and unlike anywhere else in Charlotte. The flatbread is extremely small and presentation was strange (2 slices on top of each other on a plate). The espresso martini was awful - it comes out of a tap and looks like chocolate milk, no foam or beans on top. We loved the razzbasil but that was the only drink that we thought was exceptional. Would come back with friends for the ambiance, but would probably only stay for a drink or two.

   We arrived at Folio at our reservation time and was promptly stopped by security asking if we had reservations. His approach was pretty cold and uninviting. We then had to wait in the tiny reception area for about 20 minutes for our table to be ready. The inside is well decorated and very busy. It was okay not sure if it’s compelling enough to go again.

   Folia was a cool spot with the ambiance! However, service was SUPER low. When my friend and I arrived and they weren’t busy, we got our initial drinks immediately. We also ordered food at the same time and it took forever to arrive. We later found out he forgot to put the order in to the kitchen 😒 We ordered second drinks as it got busier and checked in multiple times and our waiter kept saying they’re still working on them. As a cocktail focused business and competing with several others like it in CLT, it was evident they were unable to keep up with the high volume of drink orders. I’ve been to several cocktail lounges soon after they’ve opened and never experience this. The table next to use had the same experience with a different waiter. We all noticed as well individuals who didn’t have a table or reservation were coming in and just standing off to the side ordering drinks. I think that was a deterrent bc that contributed to the bar being backed up but annoying to seated customers with a reservation waiting for drinks. That might be something to limit to help with service.

    Folia is a treasure in plain sight. After checking in at the desk you’re led into a small pair of rooms with fountains and plants. Our two drinks from the perennial list were excellent. Service was friendly and attentive but not hovering. We didn’t have food because we were headed to dinner, but we could have made it a meal. We went on the early side (5:15) and were one of only 4 tables. Really nice experience, We will be back.
