About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Great for scenic views
The toast of the Texas coast.
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

Overall the food was excellent - especially the red snapper, which was cooked perfectly and full of flavor. Unfortunately, our two hot appetizers came out too close to our salads and were cold by the time we ate them. Service was inconsistent — our cocktails took a while to get to the table plus our server forgot the ketchup and didn’t bring it until the end of the meal after we had finished. I also cut my finger on a nail under the chair when I first sat down and had to ask the hostess for a bandaid. Our server promised a kitchen tour, but after waiting 15 minutes at the bar, we were told it was no longer available. On top of that, we were mistakenly charged for an item that was supposed to be removed which had to be corrected. While the quality of the food made the experience worthwhile, the service and attention to detail needed some work. With a few improvements, this could have been a truly great dining experience!

Food was excellent, had the shrimp stuffed with crab and a crab cake which was amazing. Wife had the ribeye which was very good and a great value. Table close to the window to look out at the gulf. While the decor is a little old food and service were excellent. Love coming here.

Great spot to grab seafood. Had a large party, so had a later reservation (8:45pm). We were sat by 9. Waiter, Alex, was super friendly & knowledgeable about the menu. He had great suggestions. Service was a bit slower than anticipated, so don't expect to get in and out super quick. Calamari was fabulous and the shrimp (grilled) platter! Can't leave out the complimentary bread - sooo good!) Also tried the tuna tartare - it was just okay. If you find that you saved room for dessert - can't go wrong with the cheesecake or crème brûlée ! You could definitely split them with someone.

The server was very knowledgeable about the menu and got our food to the table in good time. The food tasted good and the portions were filling. Even though the restaurant is family-owned with original recipes, the food seemed similar to what is served in many other food establishments. If we return to the area, we will most likely try another establishment when dining out.

Not the best on the island. My blackened tuna was overpowered by seasoning.

Had the signature red snapper and crab stuffed shrimp. Both excellent. Caesar salad was one of the best. Server was excellent. It was an anniversary dinner, and we felt we dined, not just ate out. Tablecloths are a very nice touch.

Food excellent, service also excellent, but the menu was full of breadcrumbs and needed to be cleaned, also the chair i went to seat was ready to fall apart. Gaidos needs to look at their finer details.
