About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Charming
  • Great for scenic views
The toast of the Texas coast.
How can frozen fish be called fresh? The answer for anyone with snap is simple: it can’t. That’s why Gaido’s is the classic choice for fresh Gulf seafood. Patrons know Gaido’s is real, when others are clearly not. From red snapper and blue crab to white tablecloths crumbed with panache, there’s no denying Gaido’s is one-of-a-kind in a world of imitation. Now, after four generations of filleting, frying, grilling and baking, Gaido’s has grown into the picture perfect place of traditions– birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, reunions. As the largest fresh fish house on the coast, Gaido’s can serve up to 2,500 happy diners a day. Plus, with the Pelican Club, private dining, catering, a new food truck and parking galore…it’s easy to see why Gaido’s -– for over 100 years – is truly the coastal classic.

My family has eaten at Guidos for over 40 years. We are never disappointed. The quality, portion size, and service are always top notched.

Terrific food and a wonderful waitress named Christina. Remarkably fresh shrimp, crab, and redfish. We took the pecan pie home… Cheers to Gaido’s and congrats on the James Beard!

Painful to say as my family were Pelican Club members from the 1970s until it closed, but in all our years dining with Gaido’s, this was just unbelievably, painfully disappointing. :-( I hope it was just a bad day. Shrimp was overcooked on all entrees (fried, blackened, baked), hush puppies were undercooked on inside despite nearly burned on exterior; the longtime staple Parmesan tomatoes were flavorless; our server disappeared for lengthy periods of time; stuffed shrimp was rubbery and just not good as usual; martini came with no olives (petty yes, but I ordered a dirty martini with blue cheese olives), and the chocolate mousse tasted like gritty watered down hot chocolate. Also one of us received their entree a good 20 minutes before the other entrees were served. Very strange. Only guess is our order wasn’t placed timely. Manager knocked off $ from our check but honestly for the price of the food not sure when we will try again. Super sad. It has always been such a treat.

Had my favorite snapper Michael. Others in our party had oysters, fried shrimp and blackened shrimp. All great.

Delicious dinner. Snapper was perfectly prepared. Salad was fresh with chunks of blue cheese. Dessert consisted of chocolate mousse and the most delicious key lime cheesecake I have ever had. Topped off with a bottle of Roderer champagne.

Our first visit to Gaido’s was excellent. Great table with a view as requested. Devin our server took the time to give us some great background history of the restaurant. Her service and timing was impeccable. Drinks were excellent and the food even better. Large portions of tasty seafood with my oyster platter being the real highlight! We will definitely return on our next Galveston visit.
