   Enjoy the atmosphere on the food on New Year’s Eve. Unfortunately, the service was very slow. It seemed like the server while stretched thin was trying to make it work.

   This was our second time here. Maybe because it was New Year's Eve but my prime rib was overcooked and had no flavor. Mashed potatoes were flavorless also. I didn't like the limited holiday menu either. My wife loved her meal. I won't go back. I can make a far superior meal for way less.

   First-The prix fix ( for late lunch!) was outrageous. We have had New Years Eve ( late lunch) for many years; this is a new policy. The rolls were cold and hard; previously rolls were great. I like fish, my daughter doesn't, so there was a very limited choice. How about a simple shrimp dish, not spaghetti with 5 tough shrimp? We have been going to the Gandy Dancer for over 40 years and this was very disappointing and ridiculously expensive.

   We love Gandy Dancer and save it for our "special" occasions. It is a little pricey but the experience tends to match the price. At our recent visit on New Year's Eve lunch, which we had booked 2 or 3 weeks ahead, they failed to make note of our "special request" for seating but when pointed out, that was quickly corrected. The coffee refill was barely warm, but again, it was quickly corrected by bringing the small pot to my table. I think the problem is that the pots used are not insulated because even with the pot, while the first cup from it was perfect temperature, all after that was just warm (and that was with very little time sitting between cups). With coffee prices going up at most restaurants, one does not want to be paying $4. plus for coffee that is only lukewarm. Also, while the meal was delicious, the rolls lacked any flavor. Have not noticed that on previous occasions. So, could have been just a certain batch here and there that turned out that way. That is not a big deal though because the meal was really good as was the service. All in all, it was a pleasant dining experience with no major complaints. One additional note that only "sort of" pertains to the restaurant: right after my husband paid $5.00 on c.c. for the parking across from the restaurant, someone hollered over that the parking was free this day. Well, it was too late for us at that point. Wish the machine indicated on such days that no payment was required or have a sign posted somewhere. The restaurant patrons would appreciated a "heads up".

   This was our 15th anniversary dinner @ Gandy Dancer ... had reservations, seated promptly, then "ignored" for 30 minutes (another table had to tell the server that we had been sitting there??). We ended up spending 21/2 hours there. Food was superb as always ... it was just not being waited on that was unexcusable.

   We got here at 5:30 and had reservations. Slowest service imaginable. Sat down didn’t get waters until 5:57 didn’t get our drinks until 6:15. Didn’t get out apps until 7 ordered dinner before apps came so that came at about 7:30 then ordered dessert which took forever got that around 8:15 and the check around 8:30. Walked out of the restaurant at 8:45. Very long experience. The food wasn’t that fantastic the drinks were ok. The appetizers were very good though. Definitely recommend the calamari.
