Guu Tramasa will keep the concept of “For your daily re-charging spot” of all Guu Izakaya and introduce Osaka street food to Vancouver locals.

Osaka is the second largest city in Japan after Tokyo. During the Edo period (1603-1867), Osaka was known as the “kitchen of the nation” and the center of commerce in Japan, where rice and other specialty products were traded. With this background, Osaka’s unique culinary culture has developed, and the region is still crowded with tourists from Japan and abroad, who enjoy both traditional dishes and inexpensive street food.

The two staff members who manage Tramasa are originally from Osaka, which led to the creation of Guu Toramasa based on the theme of Osaka’s food culture.

"WOW" What a beautiful experience - inviting and exhilarating, starting with the friendly greeting, and ending with a friendly farewell, this restaurant does not disappoint. Having never experienced this style of Japanese cuisine, in my own words it's like "Japanese Soul Food". The bistro style atmosphere elevates the experience of the incredibly delicious and perfectly executed cuisine. This is by no means anything but amazing food. You just have to dive in and try things. Not one single plate disappointed and the delicious cocktails were a bonus. One time in particular, the Curry Poutine stood out because it is a beautiful example of natural fusion of Japanese and Canadian cuisine. I hesitate to use the word "fusion" but i'm not sure what else I'd call it other than a natural outcome of talented people making wonderful food representative of their own culture perfectly integrated with another one. Service was on point, every single member buzzing about like a colony of bees - you can kindly ask any one of them for anything! It's like walking into a family gathering. Bravo Guu Toramasa! Bravo Arigato Gozaimasu !

Food is fresh and delicious. Waitresses are nice but it would be better if they could pay special attention to the customers. We asked few times request to refill green tea. Menu seems not very readable for seniors. I know this is a great place for youngers but should expect senior customers.

I heard there was a new Guu so we tried it for the first time. I was very disappointed with their food. I had the deep fried seafood teishoku but the “Koromo”was way too hard and didn’t taste good at all. Felt like just eating the batter. And the oysters were so small. On top of that, the white rice that came with the meal tasted like it was sitting in the rice cooker for a long time. Our server was nice but that was the only good thing. I don’t think I will come back here as my to go Guu Davie has much better quality lunch meals.

Great food for both sushi lovers and those in search of cooked options. Service was very friendly but the kitchen was quite slow so the food came out intermittently instead of all together. Took almost 45 minutes between the first dish and the last. Overall the taste and friendliness made up for the rest. We would go back for sure.

Once decided, service was prompt and pleasant; We didn't have to let them know we had to leave for the theatre; they were so efficient. Food delicious and very flavourful and authentic. Highly recommend especially for seniors attending the Orpheum.
