   OLD KAMAINA CUSTOMER.. Breakfast USE to be good!! EGGS BENEDICT .. salty.. cold.. Sauce was THICK… MUFFINS not toasted… PLATE too small salad fell off onto table trying to cut food!!! WHY SHRINK THE PLATES??? AWFUL!!

   I have never before experienced an automatic 20% tip for a table of 4. It also took 40 minutes to be seated, 30 minutes to get the first item of a holiday course meal (meaning the food was already set for the day, so there was no real ordering involved) and 4 hours total waiting until getting the dessert. So my babysitter had to wait on us for over 2 hours over the expected time for dinner.

   We made a reservation for 7:45 pm and weren’t seated until 8:15 pm. It was a busy Valentine’s Day with a fixed menu, so we tried to be understanding. However, after being seated, we waited another 20 minutes for the first course and another 20 minutes for the second course. When the second course arrived, we let our server know we needed to leave by 9:30 pm, but by 9:45 pm, our entrées still hadn’t arrived. We understand that holidays are hectic, but the restaurant should be honest and upfront about wait times. We ended up leaving at 9:45 pm without receiving our main course. Disappointing experience.

   Our experience at this restaurant was beyond disappointing. We had been looking forward to celebrating a romantic Valentine’s Day, which, unbeknownst to us at the time, would also be the night of our engagement. Sadly, the evening was anything but magical. We had made reservations well over a month in advance, and I had reached out to the restaurant to see if they could help coordinate the proposal, but the staff was completely uncooperative and seemed uninterested in making our night special. We arrived early, sat at the bar, and were overcharged for drinks we had already paid for. When we were finally seated, we found ourselves sitting side by side facing the patio. I asked to switch chairs, which seemed like a reasonable request, especially considering we were paying $125 per person. You’d think they would have made sure we had matching chairs for such a special occasion. The server was unengaged and made no effort to acknowledge that it was both a holiday and a monumental moment for us. We ordered the prix-fixe menu, and the wait between each course was agonizingly long. We arrived at 7:30, and didn’t leave until 10:30—hungry and frustrated. It made no sense why the food was taking so long when there were no modifications or special requests. We never got an explanation, as the manager never stopped by to check on us, which felt like a complete oversight. We spent nearly $400 for a meal that was a far cry from the experience we had hoped for. It was clear that no one cared about making our night memorable. The hospitality industry usually goes above and beyond for holidays and special occasions, but this restaurant completely missed the mark.

   We were seated for almost 3 hours as every course took an extremely long time to come out. They apologized and offered some free drinks but it was still a huge downer. We just sat and sat waiting for things. 45 minutes for bread and oysters. Then another 45 minutes for a salad. Then another 45 minutes for our entree. On Valentine’s Day with a very expensive price tag it was not really acceptable.

   Hau Tree’s usually one of my favorite restaurants but Valentine’s Day was definitely not there best showing. For the price paid for the valentines dinner course menu, the service was quite poor. Food took long too come out, at times seems like they forgot to bring the next dish out. Noticed multiple other patrons had to flag their waiter and complain about where their food was. Steak was cold by the time it was brought out. Had nothing but good things to say previously but definitely won’t come on another holiday/special course menu here.

   The food was great, the service was fantastic and we enjoyed the view of the ocean. Overall, an amazing place to eat and have a good time.

   とても大満足です。店員の方も凄く丁寧で、英語が分からず困っていると分かりやすく説明してくださって安心して食事する事が出来ました。料理もどれもとても美味しくて、素敵な時間を過ごせました。
