I was able to celebrate a truly special day (my mother’s birthday) with my family and enjoy very delicious food at the same time. The staff was very welcoming and polite. Our servers, Helen Axel & Alexander did an excellent job at recommending drinks and food. We had one designated server but everyone touched base with us and made sure our needs were met at all times. Our table was very well kept and clean at all times by Harold and Lorenzo, they kept a good pase in between setting up our courses. Overall we were treated with so much love from the staff and kitchen. For entrees we had the snapper (tasty but small), the ribeye (tender and cooked perfectly) and the lobster jubilee which was the standout dish of the evening. The various kinds of seafood were all cooked perfectly, and the rice was delicious. The jubilee also contained a few pieces of jerk chicken, but the flavor did not really permeate the skin. The room is stunningly beautiful without feeling stuffy, and the service was attentive and friendly, even though we stayed past closing time. Great food, upbeat vibe, attentive service that was not intrusive. The Branzino was cooked to perfection with a delicious sauce served on the side. Ceaser salad was unusual and delicious. Tuna tartare was excellent. Bread basket was unusual and came with interesting accoutrements. Delicious yucca and sweet potato fries were crispy with just enough seasoning. It was my first visit but definitely not my last. I’ll definitely be back. We were warmly greeted and promptly sat at our table. When we got our bread basket, we had to remind the person who delivered it that we had also ordered a bottle of Lily. Both the wine and the breads were excellent. For appetizers we ordered the seafood trio of crudos to share. The tuna tartare was the winner of the three appetizers. For main course I had the black bass in tamarind broth. Superb. The dish was a version of fish Filipino sinigang. My husband had Addis York, which was awesome. The atmosphere is great, our server was knowledgeable and friendly, and the food was good! I loved the dill salsa verde on the banana leaf snapper, delicious! While we didn't totally think it was swedish/ethipoian fusion, the flavors are bright and well balanced, so a win for us! The tuna tartare was another star for sure! I was able to celebrate a truly special day (my mother’s birthday) with my family and enjoy very delicious food at the same time. The staff was very welcoming and polite. Our servers, Helen Axel & Alexander did an excellent job at recommending drinks and food. We had one designated server but everyone touched base with us and made sure our needs were met at all times. Our table was very well kept and clean at all times by Harold and Lorenzo, they kept a good pase in between setting up our courses. Overall we were treated with so much love from the staff and kitchen. At the end, our reservation note was honored and we were surprised with candles and sparklers in celebration of my mother’s birthday!!! Truly an amazing experience and delight. My experience at Hav & Mar was a delight. I was able to celebrate a truly special day (my mother’s birthday) with my family and enjoy very delicious food at the same time. The staff was very welcoming and polite. Our servers, Helen Axel & Alexander did an excellent job at recommending drinks and food. We had one designated server but everyone touched base with us and made sure our needs were met at all times. Our table was very well kept and clean at all times by Harold and Lorenzo, they kept a good pase in between setting up our courses. Overall we were treated with so much love from the staff and kitchen. At the end, our reservation note was honored and we were surprised with candles and sparklers in celebration of my mother’s birthday!!! Truly an amazing experience and delight. Thank you Hav & Mar for your hospitality. 10/10

It was disappointing that an item on the menu (fluke crudo) ran out so early in the evening. We were dining quite early, but by 6:30 it was no longer available. The food we had was excellent, however.

The dining experience went south when the host Luis kept on reminding us that we had one hour to complete our meal.
We were very excited to try out this fusion cuisine by the renowned chef on our trip to NYC.
Alas! We were let down by the impolite attitude by Luis.
We had to rush through our meal and not really savor it :(
Very disappointing and unexpected from an establishment of this stature!

Everything was wonderful from the time I called to say our train was very late and they still accommodated us. We had the Addis York and Dawa Dawa Salmon. For desert the Mar and Bunna . We look forward to returning the next time we come up from Maryland

Summary: the food was not good.
The bread basket: anjero is oily and flavorless, the "hummus" tastes like cold vegetable soup. Otherwise, the dish was fine.
The crudo sampler: the tartare was great. the ceviche was pitiful with the smallest sliver of fish constituting the dish and a one dimensional vinegar flavor profile. the salmon was good.
Octopus a la plancha: the absolute worst octopus I've ever had. Incredibly overcooked. Like chewing the bottom of a shoe. very disappointing.
Pasta 2.0: delicious. Definitely the best dish of the night.
Asparagus side: cold, to the point that the hollandaise sauce was solid. seems like they use premade hollandaise which is embarrassing for a restaurant of this purported caliber.
Chicken thing: chicken drumstick was overcooked. really chewy. The thing that accompanied it was tasty enough.
I would not go back.

The food was amazing. And our server explained everything and was so helpful. From our cocktails to the bottle of wine we chose, the whole meal from small plates to large was fantastic. We will be back. We came with two of my sons. Looking forward to planning my next family dinner there.
