Had a Piquillo stuffed pepper and could have eaten those all night- had the quail and it was tender and crisp; hard to do on such a small bird. I had duck and my husband had ribeye. I throughly loved every bite of the duck and the dipping sauce for it…. Here, on the Central Coast of California, BBQ has always meant grilling over an open fire of red oak, a style of cooking that is native to our area and goes back to the days of the Spanish Rancheros. By combining the old and the new and using only the finest sources, we have created an exciting cuisine with outstanding steaks, ribs and chicken, along with fresh fish and seafood and vegetarian options. The restaurant has repeatedly earned the Wine Spectator Award for our wine list. We also create our own (world class) wines for sale in the restaurant and to the public. For 40 years Hitching Post Wines has produced some of the best wines of Santa Barbara County garnering an excellent reputation, particularly for our Pinot Noirs. My husband ordered a NY Strip, and I ordered the a Filet Mignon. Both were outstanding. The Hitching Post Pinot is delicious, as was the blueberry pie we ordered for dessert. We can't wait to go back!

From the dining room there was a great view of the Kitchen staff and Chef working the wood fire grill. My Rib Eye Steak was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The wait staff was knowledgeable and friendly. I bought home a bag of their Magic Stuff All Purpose Seasoning which was available for purchase.

Solid performance by the Hitching Post II last night. The cocktails were spot on, the artichoke tasty as ever. The soup was lentil and it was excellent. The pork chop was perfectly cooked. Juicy and delicious. I always love the nutty rice . The wife enjoyed her filet and took some home for a sandwich. A couple of glasses of Highlander Pinot Noir rounded out the meal. A pleasure!

I expect more flavor on their steak.. it’s very dark and it’s already late when they realize to turn on our small lamp. No privacy, tables are too close to each other.. i just appreciate that they accommodate us right away even if we have like an hr. More for the reservation.. but nothing is special here base on my experience.
