   As fish is the speciality of the Hive Beach Cafe,we both ordered fish as our main meal with the expectation that both meals would be delicious! The fish & chips was hake and cooked beautifully,so one very happy customer. My monkfish in masala curry sauce with peppers,aubergine and onion did not fair as well. The vegetables were undercooked and crunchy ,the masala sauce was very bland with not even a hint of spice and the monkfish still had the membrane attached so was very chewy. Altogether a very unappetising and disappointing meal. We all know that curries need to be cooked long enough for the spices and depth of flavour to develop,enabling the vegetables and monkfish to soften and yield. Alas this was not the case.

   Recognise the costs involved, but the food was excellent, fresh fish well cooked. My sister from Australia who used to manage a seafood restaurant on the Gold Coast was well impressed And she is a difficult person to please.

   Always go for brekkie - decided on a lunch visit and we're not disappointed. Excellent meal and service. The scallops as a starter and The Hake and Chips were delicious. My husband had half a lobster and kings prawns which were very good value. Will definitely go again.

    Food excellent but very rushed service, starter delivered minutes after ordering followed immediately by the main course
