Did someone say cocktails? Inspired by 1800’s quack-physician, Dr James Morison, who believed in a universal vegetable cure for all ailments based on botanical compounds. At Hokus Pokus, the botanical ‘remedies’ are distilled, and served on the rocks instead. Although they are not claiming any health benefits, the team at the Alchemy Lab are confident the tinctures can still do wonders for your mood.

Hokus Pokus is an ode to the location and heritage behind Kings Cross featuring a fascinating blend of 19th century apothecary and retro-futuristic steampunk engine room. The ceiling ripples with electric dynamos, steam valves, copper pipes and circuits forming the backdrop to a complex stage lighting scenography often seen in theatres, for perfect mood lighting.

    Really nice bar and super nice and friendly staff, only thing I’d say is the staff were a bit too attentive for the two of us - felt like they were always at the table rather than just letting you decide and ask when you wanted a drink - minor detail but really good otherwise

    Some of the best cocktails we have had in a long time. Passionate people who care about their customers. Friendly, welcoming and helpful staff. We will definitely be returning.

    Very average cocktail bar. No real atmosphere, very quite for 7.30pm on a Friday night. Drinks were okay but nothing special. Young man that served us was fantastic, he was a shinning light in a pretty average place.

    The vibe is what you'd expect from an underground cocktail bar. Quality is amazing, service is very personal. You're paying a lot for the drink, but it's worth every penny.

    Brilliant evening here for my partners birthday , group of 5 and everyone agreed it’s a cool venue. At the higher end of prices I normally pay but the quality was there and the knowledge of the barman that served us was perfect as well. Good atmosphere there and fairly busy considering ‘dry January’ , warm and welcoming environment. Would visit again :) P.s thanks for the little birthday treat !!

    Waiter was extremely funny and definitely helped the first date. He was also extremely knowledgeable on the cocktails and even created a custom one to our taste - loved it
