   Service: excellent. Homemade ginger ale: spectacular! Spicy margarita: solid. Clam chowder: too much celery, no clams, weird taste & way too much black pepper. How do you botch clam chowder? Fail. Also, oyster crackers were STALE. Fail. Lobster roll: again, too much celery. This chef loves his celery. Also, hot lobster roll with more lobster would be much better than the cold mash you served, which tasted like a chicken salad sandwich. Fail. Sushi: Excellent taste, but $20 for 4 sushi rolls? Fail. Chocolate silk pie: excellent. The service was excellent. The bar had several gaggles of weird, desperate, gaudily-dressed middle age women prowling for their third rich ex-husband. But it is Highland Park, so what do you expect? The great service trumped the middling food and desperate bar scene, but that kitchen needs serious help with basic dishes.

   Excellent Martinis. Very good Avocado dip & chips. Always a good burger. Experienced servers. Loud during Happy hour & dinner.

   Hudson salad was had very little lettuce and greens mostly cabbage. Are they replacing lettuce with cabbage to save money. Terrible salad

   It’s always a good vibe. Happy hour sometimes can take three hours. We stayed forever because it was so fun and delicious. I am a fan!

    I was a pretty disappointed this time in the Hudson House. I ordered the lobster roll and it was so heavy with mayonnaise that it was almost like tuna salad. Mayonnaise should complement the lobster not over-power it. The consistency way was off. Mushy like. The crispy rice salmon appetizer was also very disappointing. I’ve had it before here and it was so much better. This time the rice was so thick there was no way it was “crispy”. It was almost mushy. There needed to be more sauce and a bigger slice of jalapeno. Our server had the personality of a piece of wood. He literally didn’t smile - he didn’t even give us his name. Overall it was very disappointing for the amount of money we paid. I’m not sure we will be back.
