   Our visit to Il Carciofo was an exceptional dining experience that we'll remember fondly. My wife, two neighbors, and I were seated at Table 73, and our server, Ryan, provided attentive and professional service throughout the evening. The meal began with standout starters: the Basil Daisy cocktail, which was refreshingly bright, and the Mandorla due Modi, a unique and flavorful dish. For drinks, we also enjoyed the Vini Del Re Lambrusco and Pesche in Guazzetto DOC Sauvignon Blanc, both perfectly chosen to enhance the meal. The appetizers truly set the tone. The Schioppetto Collio paired wonderfully with the Carciofo alla guida (fried artichoke), which was crispy and full of flavor. For mains, we couldn’t get enough of the Spaghetti alla Carbonara and Spaghetti Cacio e Pepe. Both dishes showcased perfectly al dente pasta and traditional Roman flavors, making them the highlight of the evening. We also loved the Capesante Crudo and Zucca e Mozzarella, which were fresh and expertly prepared. To top it all off, we treated ourselves to the Pistachio Gelato for dessert—a creamy, nutty delight that wrapped up the meal on a sweet note. The ambiance was warm and inviting, ideal for a relaxing evening out. Il Carciofo is a gem for anyone seeking authentic Italian flavors and a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!

   Honestly, so proud to be Chicagoan. Joe Flamm’s Il carciofo is absolutely great from the time we got seated to the outstanding service. We ordered the artichokes, MEZZE RIGATONI ALLA AMATRICIANA, GNOCCHETTI, BOSCAIOLA, RAVIOLI TRIANGOLI, PESCE IN GUAZZETTO, MANZO APRUGINEO and ROMANESCO. All delicious but his pastas stand out. Enjoy! I would say about $100 a head with drinks and tip.

   This restaurant has possibly the finest carbonara I've tasted in a midwestern American restaurant. Perfectly balanced, not out of proportion in any of the elements (not too peppery, not too cheesy, not too meaty).

   Wonderful, attentive staff. Food came out in perfect timing and was hot and delicious. Very good ode to Rome. Pasta and pizza took me back to a night in Rome.

   Went back to get the carbonara again because it was so delicious the first time we had it, but it wasn’t great this time. Extremely salty and pasta arrived cold. Had to send back and by the time I got it back it was still not really hot (better than before) but my husband was almost done with his food so I just ate my half warm overly salty pasta. The artichokes were great though and my husbands clam spaghetti was quite tasty too.

   Host was rude. Food was good. Portions were minute. All food must be ordered at the same time. Bring a translator for the menu. Prices high. so so..

   Incredible date night dinner! We wanted to try the pasta's this time, and we loved the Spaghetti Vognole. Will be back soon to try the pizzas and meat entrees.
