Service was horrible: we first got a check before we got our food. The kitchen lost our order and the server didn’t remember what we ordered. Eventually we received our food after sitting for over 1.5 hours. No apology or anything from the server or the manager.

This restaurant feels like a casual neighborhood Italian restaurant. It's within walking distance to McCormick Convention Center which is fantastic for dinner. [Not sure about their lunch hours/experience.]. Menu is not enormous, but has all of the key items: meatballs (delicious, tender, very flavorful), calamari (grilled or fried), salads, pastas and desserts. Generous portions, bread basket before the meal. The spicy penne came out piping hot and spicy--amazing. The linguine with white clam sauce was nicely done as well--generous with the clams. Tiramisu was enormous and really hit the spot. Service is fast, very attentive but not overbearing. Booths are big and very much like a traditional diner. Bathrooms are clean. a solid experience overall.

The kitchen made chicken instead of the veal I’d ordered and then doubled down, saying that it was veal. It just looks, eats, and tastes exactly the same as chicken. I sort of had dinner with a friend since we didn’t really eat at the same time. I reordered and opted for the gnocchi because I didn’t want chicken veal. If you make a mistake then have accountability and admit to it. Also why are your already overloaded servers bussing tables?

Il Culaccino is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is delicious authentic Italian. The wine prices are reasonable, which is rare these days. Enjoying a meal with friends and/or family on the open or glass-enclosed patio is a relaxing and unique experience.

We were seating promptly upon checking in. A reservation was a must with the concert that night. Waitress took our drink order right away. We ordered and my partner asked for his meal to be without tomatoes and different pasta. She questioned whether it was possible. They did allow without tomatoes, but no pasta change. Place was packed but when tables cleared they were slow to clear. Ordered another drink. Food came and very hot and tasty. Could have used a bit more sauce. No bread was served. They were out of it. Beer took a while so waitress comped the beer. No push for us to leave. I would go back again.

Our dining experience at Il Culaccino was nothing short of exceptional. The food was not only delicious but served in generous portions that offered great value for the price. The service was efficient, friendly, and attentive. Our server, Viviana, truly stood out with her hospitality and attentiveness, ensuring every detail of our meal was perfect. The combination of excellent cuisine, top-notch service, and reasonable pricing has made Il Culaccino a must-visit for us. We look forward to returning during our next visit to the McCormick Center.

Il Culaccino, a small, special hidden gem right by McCormick Place convention area and hotels. I’ve been here when busy during a Sox Convention, or most recently just out for a low key fabulous dinner with family. It is a must go to place, upscale yet casual family restaurant. The team members are friendly, welcoming, personable and the food…from the many salads or apps to share to the delicious large portion Italian delights (Eggplant Parm!!) you can’t go wrong. Always a great experience and will want to visit again & again.
