   I rarely write reviews, but I feel compelled to share our experience to help others make informed decisions—especially families dealing with food allergies. We visited Il Mulino last weekend for what we hoped would be a pleasant dinner out. While the ambiance and main course were enjoyable, our experience took a turn that left us shaken. At the beginning of the meal, we informed our server about my daughter's severe nut allergy—clearly and directly. We were assured that the kitchen could accommodate her needs and would be informed accordingly. That reassurance gave us peace of mind. However, when it came time for dessert, things went terribly wrong. We ordered a dessert that was not marked as containing nuts on the menu, and nothing was mentioned by the waiter. My daughter began eating it, only to suddenly stop and spit it out after noticing a strange taste and texture. Upon checking with the staff, we discovered that the dessert did in fact contain nuts. Thankfully, she didn’t ingest enough to trigger a serious reaction, but it could have been disastrous. The lack of communication and oversight was incredibly distressing. For any restaurant—especially one that claims to accommodate allergies—this is simply unacceptable. Food allergies are not a preference; they are a health risk. A simple heads-up from the staff could have prevented this entirely. We won’t be returning, and I sincerely hope the restaurant takes this as an opportunity to retrain staff and implement better allergy protocols. The safety of your guests depends on it.

   2nd visit in as many weeks. This time celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday with friends. We were more than taken care of. Great food, service and ambience. We’ll be back

   By far one of the greatest dining experiences I’ve ever had. Andrea and our waiter whose name escaped me were excellent. The food was nothing short of exceptional.

   With so many steakhouses in New York City, it’s easy to overlook some of the historic stalwarts. I recently dined at Il Mulino Prime in SoHo and was thoroughly impressed by both the service and the outstanding food. Our porterhouse steak for two was perfectly cooked and flavorful, complemented by delicious vegetables, a well-balanced Caesar salad, and a fresh tuna starter. The wine list, though small, was thoughtfully curated, and the desserts were exceptional. Service was attentive without being intrusive, adding to the intimate experience of this 13-table gem. A solid evening at a spot that deserves more recognition.

   Honestly everything was great. The pasta was cooked to perfection. Our ribeye was also exactly how we wanted it. The staff was attentive and welcoming. I will go back!

   Amazing experience. It was a busy Valentine’s Day dinner and they still found the time and effort to make us feel valued. Esteban was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was delicious! Bone marrow is a must try for anyone going! The oysters were cold and fresh. The veal was soft and perfectly cooked as requested! Thank you Il Mulino for a great dinner!
