Located on Charleston's Upper King Street, Indaco (Italian for "indigo") serves rustic Italian cuisine. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant's menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. With community tables, an open kitchen, and a comfortable atmosphere, Indaco can accommodate 100 guests for a casual night of food and drinks. The wine list is focused on affordable Italian varietals, the Negroni cocktail is on tap, and the fresh sodas are made in-house. The massive wooden doors on Upper King Street are your first indication that Indaco is different from the typical Charleston restaurant. Rustic details continue inside with butcherblock tables, lime-wash walls, and white brick. An open kitchen with nearby community tables lets interested diners keep an eye on the action inside the kitchen. Outside, a patio puts you streetside to watch Upper King Street's vibrant nightlife scene.

From the OpenTable editors: Within the prolific Indigo Road Hospitality Group, Indaco is the rustic Italian institution. Restaurateur Steve Palmer, a James Beard semifinalist, opened the original in Charleston in 2013, and it’s grown to four locations across the South. The secret to success? Woodfired margherita pizza, fresh tagliatelle with an egg yolk nestled on top, and house negronis on tap, all served in a rugged space with butcher block tables and white washed brick.

    This was our second time coming in for date night. We didn’t realize it was restaurant week and we had the best time! We picked the restaurant pick and experienced new food out of our control zone and it was great ! The waitress was amazing ( I forgot her name ) but she walk us through the menu and cleared up any questions we had ! We are definitely making this our date night spot !

    This was a great dining experience all around. We sat on the heated patio and it was lovely, quieter out there than in the main dining room. I have a gluten allergy and they were easily able to accommodate my dietary restrictions and the gluten free pasta was the best I’ve ever had. My non-gluten free child enjoyed their regular pasta as well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Will definitely eat here again the next time we are in town.

    The staff went above and beyond when my boyfriend didn't particularly like his entree. They were so attentive and helpful and made sure to get us something delicious to go. I've always loved this place and never had an issue and seeing their next level service just cemented my love for this spot.

    I’ve been to Indaco four times over the past few years. I didn’t leave raving about the food last night as I have on my previous visits, but it was generally good. It was a busy Friday night out downtown and an overall good time.

    Went for a late NYE dinner and enjoyed a pizza, pasta, appetizer and drinks for around $100. Excellent menu, atmosphere, and our server Alex was a professional compliment to an overall great experience at Indaco.
