Iron and oak are two of the most iconic elements associated with Oakland. Iron references the shipyards and commerce that have kept Oakland relevant on a global scale throughout history, while oak refers to the fabled groves from which the city derives its name.

Chef Boman Tam as a Oakland native was inspired by the diversity of our community and created dishes to show case and celebrate local and seasonal ingredients.

Please note, we only take only reservations for 6-12 guests.
Parties of 1-5 guests are reserved for walk in only.

The staff was super accommodating and our waiter was excellent. We all liked our dinners very much. The location is also quite convenient for what we were doing afterwards.

Waitress was not an experienced. She was not good in understanding English to do her job. She was "lost" in getting the food order we requested, and we never got a side dish we ordered. We had to ask three times for a check, and it took her (35) minutes to get the check for us. Another waitress attempted to help and gave us the wrong check for our able as well. The overall hotel is a 10+, service in the Iron and Oak is a 0+. If I stayed at this hotel again, I would avoid the Iron and Oak for any dining.

The pictures and description don’t mention that it is an open floor inside of a hotel. And the food and service match that. Also, they allow reservations on the app but it is open, first come, first serve seating. Would not recommend.

The thing is that we made a reservation when we got there it was open seating with a sign that said seat yourself. There wasn’t a table available so we had to wait. The vibe is hotel bar rather then restaurant. They market it and show pictures that I don’t think reflect the experience. The one thing they had going for them is there amazing waiter we had.

I was not aware the restaurant was in open space in hotel, so impression was not appealing. The service was good and friendly. The food was okay nothing stood out as excellent. The area was cold and sterile. Don’t think I will return if I’m visiting the Oakland area.

James, our server, is the best thing about this restaurant. He is friendly, accommodating and attentive. If only he had something to work with... The steak frites entrée was overcooked and the chicken entrée was edible. The citrus bomb was extremely heavy on the grapefruit. My amaretto sour was fine. Overall, we would not eat here again.
