My partner and I decided to come here for a spontaneous date night dinner and to try their Culinaria Restaurant Week menu. It started with the manager giving us a call about 30-45 minutes before our reservation to let us know that our reservation was one of the only ones of the evening. I called back and it was difficult to get ahold of the caller. When I did I confirmed our reservation and that it was okay for us to come in for dinner because I had gotten a weird vibe from the voicemail. After confirming it was, we came in. We sat at the bar which I felt was a mistake since the bartender was unfriendly and downright hostile to us on several occasions. He didn’t bother to make conversation with us beyond a hello and was visibly annoyed with our presence. It was awkward and I didn’t feel like my partner and I could fully enjoy ourselves. At one point we asked how to pronounce a wine and he responded “I don’t know, I’m a Mexican” which is unacceptable as an attitude to someone who is also Mexican. The food itself was good but the dishes came out rushed. I also felt like everything was extremely over salted to the point I had salt crystals crunching in my confit turnips. The amuse was good but came with no explanation to best enjoy it, the beets changed my life, the bread and the waiter was fantastic and I wish we sat in his section, and the main course was also very good. The desert was also amazing and I appreciated hearing about the wash method used on the bourbon. Overall, I want to come back but I will be more mindful of where we sit and maybe the mood of the staff.

First let me start by saying that the service is amazing, the staff is friendly and very attentive and knowledgeable. Having said that, if you're the kind of person that loves to take pictures of your food regardless of the taste, this is the place for you, if you like me are more interested in the flavor this is not the place for you. A lot of people had recommend this place to my husband so we were excited to try it out. They had a four course menu for "restaurant week" and we decided to go with this, you could accompany this with a wine pairing which I do recommend. The first thing we got was a sampler that included 2 grilled oysters, cheese curl (basically 2 dried cayenne peppers with barely to no filling) and 2 fried chicken pieces. Flavor 4/10, the best was the fried chicken. After this we had some bread and butter which was ok. I mean is bread and butter. Next up, we had some "Embered beets" with pecan butter. This had no flavor at all, the pecan butter did make it a little bit better, but it felt like I was eating raw beets, presentation wasn't even good 0/10. Finally we had a 6oz Wagyu Striploin which we were excited to try but our excitement died as soon as we got the first bite, the meat was ok but it didn't taste like anything, is as if they were afraid of adding flavor. The meat was accompanied by a sauce which we had to dip the meat in to add flavor to it and also had a side salad which was ok, overall I gave this dish 2/10. Honestly, I am always up for the experience of food and trying new things, but this was one of the most disappointing experiences in San Antonio. It made me want to write a review for the first time to warn others.

A quiet Thursday night for dinner. The food was great, and the ambiance was very nice. The open kitchen made for a fun experience. I will be back.

One of the newer restaurants in San Antonio's Pearl. Farm to table and a good selection of Texas and international wines. Excellent and knowledgeable waiters and wine service. One of the best Wagyu steaks I have had recently. Great Texas Madeira wine and amari selection. Prix fixe menu was just right and changes often. Nice atmosphere in the bar area and good selection of cocktails.
