   Wonderful restaurant but extremely loud at lunchtime and tables very very close together

   The food as well as the ambiance and the staff were excellent. I have been to Island several times and will look forward to dining there in the near future.

   Great service, great food. Did well for our group which included one that wasn't very hungry and one that is a vegetarian. And the warm brownie dessert just topped it off perfectly.

   I love going to Island. It has such a neighborhood feel to it. The staff is very friendly and on point. The food is delicious. It is not atypical for me to run into a friend or acquaintance there. I highly recommend it (well maybe not too highly that I cannot get a reservation!). : )

   Dropped-in with my wife and our 14-year old daughter for lunch on a dark and blustery New Year’s Day. Island is a warm, cozy, elegant but comfortable, neighborhood bistro. We enjoyed a terrific meal with great service. Island is the sort of place we would visit weekly if we lived in the neighborhood. We look forward to returning to enjoy dinner there in a future visit to the UES. Highly recommended!

   Food was delicious, really nice ambience, and we would go there again. Servers are all very nice and when we first sat they quickly got us drinks and took our order. BUT, no one checked on us during the apps and it wasn’t until 1/2 way through dinner that 2 people came by to ask how things were. For a sit down meal where an average of 20% gratuity is expected (and even after all this we left a bit more because it’s the holiday season) I expect someone to ask at least once during the early part of each course if we need anything.

    Populair buurtrestaurant met een mix van museumbezoekers ( om de hoek van o.a. Guggenheim en Metropolitan) en bewoners. Compacte maar gevarieerde menukaart en vriendelijk personeel, dat zowel aan de bar als aan de tafels bedient. De lobster bisque en de peasoup waren heerlijk gevolgd door een voortreffelijke lobster roll en crabcakes. Cava en Sancerre per glas waren aan de prijs maar ze schenken royale glazen bij Island.
