   Ok, it was a Friday night, Aintree weekend, and it was busy. There was a DJ playing very loud music, in our opinion, which wasn’t to our taste and we wasn’t expecting. Our table was in a corner, the bench seating wasn’t comfortable either and that hasn’t been our experience at other IVY restaurants. On a positive note, the service from Nathan was very good and he was helpful with the Ivy app to log points. All in all it was a disappointing evening which was a birthday treat.

   Thank you for a lovely evening, everything was perfect from the pleasant staff, excellent service, delicious food and beautiful venue. We had the Heritage menu and it was such good value for money. It was a very busy night due to open day at Aintree Races but we were not rushed. Lovely experience we will definitely be back.    The most disinterested waiter we have ever experienced. Apparently the menu was new that day and he admitted to not having looked at it. The steak tartare starter was available, then it wasn't, then it was and eventually it wasn't. The service was slow and disingenuous. We received food we hadn't ordered and didn't receive food we had ordered. When we requested that the service charge be removed from the bill it took an age. The staff member that eventually dealt with it explained it could only be done by a manager. When we explained to the manager why we didnt want to pay it, he said "I've been in the back, I don't know what has been happening. Having clicked up many previous enjoyable visits to various The Ivy restaurants, this visit fell far below the expected standard. Very disappointed.

   The restaurant has a lovely décor throughout and a good ambience. For our meal we were shown quickly to our table. It then took the waiter a while to come to take an order from us and when he did arrive, he wanted to know what food we wanted but we explained that we had not even been offered any drinks. There was nothing wrong with the food that we ordered but we found it nothing special and a bit of let down for the fact that it is The Ivy. When my main meal was delivered by one of the staff wearing a suit it included a gravy boat. He had delivered the plate from my left-hand side and he then proceeded to put the gravy boat on my right side. However, instead of going round to my right side he stretched right across the table in front of me to put it down. Not the best waiter service in my view and I found it quite off putting. Our wine was placed away from the table and we were not topped up. Had to specifically ask for the glasses to be topped up. This I did to one of the staff wearing a suit but he did not top up the glasses himself. Don’t see why not (was it not his job!!), he waited until the waiter stopped dealing with another table and asked him to do it. One thing that it did not affect us on the evening but we found quite strange was that while we were there they reduced the brightness of the lighting but they reduced it so much that guests were having to use the lights on their phones to be able to read the menu. Overall, not the best evening with the slightly underwhelming food and not the best service.

   Excellent service, delicious food, attentive friendly staff, beautiful setting, warm atmosphere and incredible ladies cloakroom! Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, thanks to everyone involved.

    Lovely decor and ambience, menu choice slightly limited, there was nothing else on the menu other than what I chose that I would have had. Service was very good, a couple of order slip ups but that didn’t put us off.
