I was excited to take my parents to this place because of all the hype. Unfortunately, it did not live to the hype. We were there to celebrate my mom‘s birthday and requested a table due to the injuries and weight restrictions my dad has, a veteran. When I got there, it was disappointing to see that my dad was sat in a booth and my mom in a table, and my dad had issues getting up from the booth due to any knee injury. Not only that, but we saw several bugs by a window curtain! The food was good, but not worth the $500 dollars, for 4 people, plus a 20% gratuity. Also, you have o my 2 hours to eat and get out.

Good food and beautiful interior for 90% of tables. You want a view of the cherry tree and not in the back area with the low ceiling. $50 corkage, and not mentioning that tip was included in bill felt bad.

I'm visiting from out of town and traveling through Canada, Washington, and Oregon. I saw the Janken advertisement in a travel magazine featuring the city of Portland, so my daughter and I decided to give it a try. We had a wonderful server named Sophia who was very friendly, accommodating, and always had a smile on her face. The Wagyu Gyoza was delicious, and the Yaki Udon had the perfect chewy texture that I love. For dessert, we enjoyed an Ube Crème Brûlée, and I was thoroughly impressed. As an Asian woman who grew up eating Ube, I could truly taste the Ube in the Crème Brûlée and could tell it wasn’t just food coloring.

Janken was such an incredible experience. The atmosphere was incredible, the service was excellent, and above all, the food was amazing. I can say with certainty that I've never had better sushi. The quality of ingredients, the unique elements and the taste of everything was beyond any other sushi I've had before. The dynamite roll and the seared salmon nagiri were incredible. The cocktails were amazing, the tartare was amazing, frankly everything was amazing. But the stand out was most certainly the black cod. I'm used to cod being a fairly common, mediocre fish. But this dish was, in a word, sublime. A tremendous bomb of umami flavor, and yet as delicate and pleasing as any high quality halibut. My wife and I were beyond impressed, and this is now in my top 3 restaurants of all time. We will be back.

I’ve been here a few times and Maya is always our server. She’s super friendly, knowledgeable, and has a wild amount of experience. Everything I have tried has been top notch and I love bringing friends and family from out of town here when they visit!

The chef nigiri was mind blowing. Everything else was sub par. I cannot BELIEVE how much we spent on one dinner. And the wagyu was overcooked. That just feels criminal. The shrimp tempura was giving *mcdonalds French fry.* fish tacos and shrimp were baller, don’t bother getting anything else. It’s beautiful and the service was nice (if overwhelming) but I don’t think it was worth half what it cost. Two words: overcooked wagyu. I’ve had a better meal for half the cost. I really thought I’d be blown away for $400 for two. 🤷‍♀️

Service was impeccable, it just goes to show how a dining experience can go from zero to 100 just like that due to service. Maria was our server for the night and she was next level. It’s our first time traveling to Portland and it just made the trip that much more worth it. The food was a 4/5 flavors were on point very well balanced. Ambience was great, beautifully designed. And the drinks were delicious. I normally don’t sip on cocktails but the Litchi martini was perfectly balanced. Lovely first dining experience on our first night out.

The pork belly and salmon carpaccio are delicious. Love the crème brûlée. The lobster is very disappointing. The server is very attentive and pleasant. The service charge included in the bill is simple.

The food and service are amazing. Not a typical Portland crowd or experience at all, not necessarily bad, just more like a Miami vibe from the crowd and all. But its a cool place to go to celebrate a special occasion and get amazing food and service.
