   Fantastic service and not too busy for a Monday night! The food was delicious! Highly recommend starting with the Brie tempura! Will definitely return again soon

   We love the Japonessa Happy Hour, as there is a lot of variety on the menu and the prices are a good value. The wait staff was attentive, ensured we got one last order in before HH ended, kept our water glasses filled, and didn't rush us to leave as we finished our drinks after dinner. Our waiter even offered to let us exit at the upper door since one of our party was on crutches. We have been here many times in the past, and will definitely return in the future.

   We had a 5pm reservation. This allowed us to enjoy happy hour for our appetizers. We ordered the edamame, calamari, and beef tacos. The beef tacos and calamari were especially amazing with their flavor profiles. The calamari with the salad that comes with it could especially be your meal alone if you wanted something light and flavorful. For our rolls for dinner, we had the “Mr. wonderful” and the “Diablo says.” Both have the yamagobo in it. The crunch and texture was similar to a pickled carrot. Yanagobo is a pickled root. If that is not for you, I would not recommend. However, it did add a higher crunch level than just the cucumbers would have. I personally like the pickling flavor so I enjoyed it, but I could see how others would not like it. We finished off our dinner with a coconut cake and the lychee sorbet. The coconut was very rich in flavor, but light. The lychee sorbet had chunks of lychee in it with a blueberry compote essentially on top. Truly so delicious!

   Felt unwelcome here. The bartender was mostly unresponsive and the staff didn’t have knowledge about the sushi. They asked me to read the menu and figure out what is in the dishes. The food was delicious and the portion sizes were good.
