Everything was truly wonderful. Only thing we were celebrating 2 birthdays which they knew about and didn’t offer a shot or dessert item for each couple to share. Considering what we spent it would have been a nice gesture on their part.

This was our 5th time dining at JAX’s this year. Unfortunately it wasn’t as memorable as the previous occasions. The main issue last evening was perhaps best described, as the service. It was friendly and efficient. Perhaps too efficient. When we realized how quickly our appetizers were arriving, I asked our waiter to not input our Tomahawk steak order right away. He said no problem, but it takes about 30 minutes to prepare. After I gave him the okay to proceed with the order, which happened to be about 25-30 minutes later, it arrived in 8 minutes. Needless to say that my medium-rare steak was overcooked. When the waiter returned later to inquire about our meal, I told him that it was overcooked. His reply: I’ll tell the chef. I was expecting a different response for an overcooked $150 piece of meat! Perhaps I should have been more forceful in expressing my disappointment. However, I was tired and wasn’t up for a confrontation. Moral of the story: don’t place your dinner order at the same time as your appetizers or you risk encountering a similar fate.

As one of our favorite restaurants on the island, we were surprised when the food was only ok. While the steaks were cooked perfectly, something was off on the seasoning. Which was true for the whipped potatoes and vegetables as well. The lobster escargot had zero garlic. We didn’t take the leftover home, which we usually do. Since we have had so many good experiences in the past, we’ll probably try again, but this experience was disappointing.
