Service was a bit off today; not bad but not to the level I’ve had in several experiences here.

We are three girls travelling from Norway, and unfortunately, we experienced noticeably worse service than the tables around us. For example, other guests were asked if it was their first time visiting and were kindly offered takeaway boxes when they didn’t finish their food. We were not offered any of this, and it felt like we were being judged or perceived in a strange or inappropriate way—almost as if they thought we were sugarbabes or something similar. It left us feeling uncomfortable and unwelcome. We were dressed in long dresses and wore normal makeup, so the treatment felt especially unfair and hurtful.

Eating at Jaya at The Setai is consistently an experience, and our recent visit was no exception. The atmosphere is spectacular — modern luxury and Southeast Asian influence, enhanced by the open-air courtyard and a retractable roof that allows guests to dine outside, a tranquil, upscale experience. We began with a seafood appetizers. Each dish showcased fresh, high-quality ingredients with well-balanced flavors. The highlight of the evening was the filet mignon, which was cooked perfectly — tender and flavorful. The live entertainment, the performers are extraordinary. The live dancers, blending fire and traditional Asian dance elements, were talented and added an immersive, cultural touch. Jaya remains top-tier for anyone seeking an exquisite evening in Miami — a perfect combination of fine dining, artistry, and ambiance.

I loved Jaya, but something was off from the get go - not finding our reservation which was made days ago. Seating us (three people) at a table for six under a speaker where we could barely hear ourselves speak. The food was fine but definitely not at the level it used to be. I wouldn’t say it was a bad experience overall but it wasn’t great either.

My husband, my mother and I went to Sunday brunch at Jaya. Our experience was a positive one. We set in the “open area” with the live jazz music. Fortunately, we got the last table in this area for our reservation. If not, we were told it would be 2 hours before we could sit in the open area. What I enjoyed most was the people watching. Miami is such a wonderful place to watch people. I love that people embrace the idea of living their best lives as they define it. I ate an omelette, some sushi, ceviche and oysters. Everything was good. Our server was pleasant. The prior reviews I read had me on the fence about whether or not Jaya was worth going to. While I don’t want to minimize other people’s expectations or perception, as a person of color, I didn’t experience or “feel” anything that felt like racism, and I saw a lot of people of all shapes, sizes and colors having a good time. If you want the “Miami vibe,” this is a brunch worth experiencing.
